As Warriors broadcaster Bob Fitzgerald pointed out in his latest Blog Squad entry, Sunday’s triumph in Los Angeles proved to be huge for the Warriors. Not only did it snap a nine-game road losing streak against the Lakers that dated back to January of 2003, but it also maintained Golden State’s position in the Western Conference standings. With Denver winning earlier in the day, the Warriors needed their dramatic win on Sunday to remain 1.5 games ahead of the Nuggets for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West.
ORACLE Arena is sure to provide a playoff-like atmosphere on Monday, as Golden State will be closing out its season series with Los Angeles. The Warriors lead the season series 2-1, and should they post a victory on Monday, it would mark the first time the Warriors will have won a season series with the Lakers since the 1994-95 season.
