I don't think this is the case. It's not like we've got some huge sample size of high-quality 7-footers who have been in the college ranks the past decade or so whose performance in the tourney we can review. As everyone bemoans at the drop of a hat, there aren't that many quality 7-foot centers anyway, at all, anywhere. And since the mid- to late 90s, the bulk of those who project to be great players have skipped college altogether. That leaves less talented ones in college. Less talented guys are less likely to get calls. Less talented guys are more likely to foul. If we saw Ewing, Robinson, Olajuwon and the like all being tossed, that would be one thing. But those aren't guys we're talking about.

That said, the NCAA has emphasized cleaning up post play. And players have to adjust to how the games are being called.
