Re: Williams Swap: Clippers Sign Marcus, Waive Aaron
Great move. Dont get me wrong, i cringed when i heard people saying a couple years ago how they hoped we would get him with our lottery pick, because he to me was the ultimate non dunleavvy type player. Howeve,r picking him up for the minimum? WONDERFUL. Remember, this is the team that usually around this time picks up scrubs like doug christie and luke jackson.
I dont think he will get a lot of playing time unless he changes his game a lot. I am not as enamored with his ball handling as some scouts have said, and his passing, even worse....things that have kept guys like maggette and thornton in dunleavvys dog house in the past. But at his age (Three years younger than Thornton, one year younger than livingston), he still has upside if he can fine tune his game (and head).
Like weasel said, it is kind of a waste of money inasmuch as Aaron's contract was guaranteed, but i think in the long run it will save us money if we resign him, as opposed to getting a veteren next year who would cost more (due to vet minimum salary rules).
I am excited about marcus williams and nick fazekas possibly taking the roster spots of Paul Davis and dan dickau next year. (wish it was brevin knights spot, but his contract is guaranteed)
