The MVP is an on the court award. You don't win an MVP for being a nice guy and visiting kids with cancer, and you don't lose it for saying mean things about your teammates _in the offseason_. You win it for what you do on the court.
I would love for you to clarify which 'all sorts of BS' you are talking about, while defending a guy who's reason for not voting Kobe for MVP is: "and the first half of the season, when he was still feeling out whether he wanted to get with the program or not, still sits on his record."
Still feeling out whether he wanted to get with the program? A LOT of people predicted to Lakers to not even make the playoffs, yet they were 35-17 at the all star break and Kobe was putting up his 28+, 6+, and 5+ and being praised around the league for getting that team on track and playing at his 2000 level of defensive intensity again. That was just a ridiculous statement and defending it is pointless.
