How long did it even take when the hornets WERE leading the SW division for it to even be talked about? and when it eventually was discussed, everyone essntially felt that they would fall off some time or another, and even using past post-allstar break performances as an example of them melting down in feb-march.

Regardless of what happens in the playoffs and this series, the hornets took the throne atop the toughest division in the NBA, and have proved they are no fluke, whether the general nba fans wanna pony up and admit it or not.
Well I created a thread in March asking why the Hornets could not win it all, I think that Paul should he MVP, I'm certainly not the one wasn't looking past them. New Orleans won 56 games, Dallas won 51, it's not your typical #2 vs. #7 matchup and a lot of people factor in that the Mavs have been here before and might come together for one last time because it is their last shot with this group.

There is no underdog in this series, but I also don't think that any team should be considered favorites. They split the season series, Dallas has played better towards the end of the season whereas the Hornets did not. Those are all some reasons why the majority voted for Dallas, however there were not a lot of opinions saying that Dallas would win for sure. If you go the Dallas team forum, they will all tell you that they wouldn't be surprised if the Hornets take this series.
