Re: Wizards vs. Cavs, Round 1

I thought the Haywood's foul was at maximum a flagrant 1. A case could be made that it was just a hard playoff foul but that's the way calls go sometimes. Seconds before that play, Reggie Miller was commenting how he liked hard fouls when Antonio Daniels was hit in the air by Delonte West. If you can't foul LeBron hard when he goes to to he basket with a full head of steam, then he's going to score almost every time and they might even call a foul on you anyways.

I don't think the Wizards should even foul anymore because the refs are calling them for cheap fouls as well. Blatche and Haywood were already in foul trouble in the 1st quarter when they picked up 2 fouls each, it effected their play for the rest of the game.

By the way anybody else noticed that Big Z traveled at least 3 times before they finally called him for 1 in the second half. The Wizards got a lot of their free throws in the 2nd half when the game was out of reach once Haywood was ejected.

Still, the Wizards really did not show up with effort to beat the Cavs. They missed a lot of free throws early and often. Butler, Jamison, and Arenas shot in the neighborhood of 30%. Overall, nowhere near the level of play you need to beat anybody in the postseason.
