I was on another message board and this guy told me the Celtics would be a 68 win team without KG. This was his reasoning.
Quote:
The Celtics were 11-2 without Kevin Garnett.
Stretch that out to a full season, and that'd make them a 68 game winning franchise. That's 2 games more than they won this season.
Plus they'd have Al Jefferson. And Ryan Gomes. And Gerald Green. And whomever else they'd signed with KG's money. None of whom they had in the 13 games Garnett missed.
The East is weak as ****.
The Celtics were considered the most improved team in basketball based on the Allen acquisition alone.
Jefferson was going to have emerged as a 20-10 guy this year whether he played here, Minnesota or Kalamazoo.
It's more than a little possible that the Celtics would have been a legit threat without Garnett. Absolutely nothing really indicates otherwise, quite frankly.
