1. With Nowitzki here, he'd become a main cog and he consistently seems to choke in that role. I'd just as soon let guys like Roy, Fernandez, Aldridge, Oden, and even Outlaw and/or Webster develop with the shots that Nowitzki would be taking.

2. Nowitzki would be a big minutes guy and plays virtually no defense -- I like the way McMillan's got the team coming together defensively and Nowitzki would put a big hole in that.

3. Silly as it sounds, I actually like having LaFrentz as an option off the bench. He doesn't seem to complain about minutes, always seems ready, and does a halfway decent job of rebounding and playing defense. They'll be times this year when Oden or Przybilla will be early foul trouble and/or missing a game completely due to a flu or some such. Having LaFrentz to come in for 10 minutes and help hold the fort has merit.

4. Perhaps most importantly, I think his contract can help get a player who'd be a much better fit than Nowitzki.

All that said, if Cuban calls, it's something Pritchard would have to think about.
I know you're not a dumb poster cause I've read some of your other posts, and most of the points you make are valid, but wtf???
Are you being serious, or am I missing some sarcasm..?

"I honestly think I might rather have Lafrentz (over Dirk)"
/ "If Cuban calls, it's (a Raef-Dirk swap) something Pritchard would have to think about" - ???

Thats crazy talk man. Like I said above, the points you make are fair ones, but that shouldn't ever stop you from making a RAEF for DIRK swap..

The only "reasonable" point that might stop a trade like this is your 4th one, that Raef's contract could be used to pick up a player that fits much better than Dirk. That might be true but whats the chances of that actually happening, particularly in a summer like this one where there are several large expiring contracts also more talented or valuable than Raef. And at the least, there'd be a great downgrade in talent from a player like Dirk.

I mean I know Dirk's rep has dropped a lot lately (the Mavs are after all 2-12 in their last 14 playoff games), but anyone in ANY situation would have to be crazy to not accept on a trade that lopsided..
