What works against Magic above all else is that he was always surrounded by a lot more talent than DUncan ever has been.Duncan has always been the best player on the SPurs and he's won with completely different casts around him. This just takes him into the top ten exactly like Magic IMO.

You may not know it, but to win in the 80's you HAD to be surrounded by a GREAT supporting cast.
i would LOVE to see a Pavlovic/Hughes/Lebron/Gooden/Z team go against the 80's Sixers, Celtics, Pistons, Suns, Blazers, Rockets, etc.. LOL
In the 80's (Magic and Bird's time) you simply could not win if you hadn't a superstar surrounded with at least 2 all-stars or another All-Nba.
In Duncan's time, it was diferent. Talent is more diluted (sp?).

You have to remember that Magic's career(save for the abortive comeback attempt) ended at the same age that Duncan is right now.So far as I'm concerned the major reason people rate him so highly in the GOAT argument is his infectious personality.
|
Yup. It was his "infectious personality" that made him, a 20 YEARS OLD ROOKIE, be the SOLE basketball player in the history of the NBA to win a Finals MVP award as a rookie. Lol.
Dude, i don't know why you have a beef against Magic, but you do look like a fool following it.

He was a top ten player all time, but that's about it.The Lakers were loaded the day he got to LA and they were loaded throughout his career. It would have been a huge disappointment if a team like that hadn't won multiple titles, particularly in light of the startling lack of parity in this era
|
Lol. Magic won the Sporting News "Athlete of the Decade" because he was lucky. How could i have forgoten it?
Please, please, give me more...
