Re: Gabe Pruitt

Sam is fine for what he brings (by the way, I created the thread before game 2). He's just not the future of the franchise. He's a scoring point guard (he took more shots than anyone except Pierce in game 2). That can be good and was definitely needed during our scoring droughts in the playoffs, but with the big three, I think we need more of a distributor who can knock down the occasional open shot. I think Pruitt could do that in the backup role. Obviously, we haven't seen enough of him to form a solid opinion, but all I'm wondering is if he'll get a chance to show what he can do. He doesn't even seem to be able to get much playing time in garbage time.

Is it official that Sam is coming back? I know Sam wants to come back, but I didn't think the Celtics made any decision on that yet.

I disagree that Rondo was clueless at the beginning of the year last year. As I recall, he played pretty well when he got time (so did Powe). But Doc inexplicably changed his playing time a lot. It's not like that accomplished anything because the Celtics lost most of their games anyway. This year, I understand why Pruitt didn't get a lot of playing time, since we actually had something to play for, and it wasn't the time for developing players. However, there were a lot of times when the game was well out of reach, but Doc kept the starters in. Pruitt could've played then.
