That's really part of my point though. Step 1 is getting to hit the shot when unguarded. Then opponents are forced to respect the shot, and that opens things up in other areas (e.g. freeing up the lane, or allowing a dribble-drive of some kind).
That's really why I don't mind some growing pains with hitting the 15-footer. In the long term, the benefit of having opponents respect that shot can be substantial.
