Syracuse, NY. Roosevelt Bouie, Jr., a former Syracuse University basketball star and a 12-year veteran of the Italian Basketball League, will host the official Backcourt Summer League in Syracuse, NY from July 6-9 on the campus of Syracuse University. The summer league is open to a limited number of elite NCAA athletes and graduates and will be conducted by European coaches with additional help from the ABA and top NCAA schools.
According to Bouie, "This is our third year hosting this camp. The goal of this Summer League is to attract college-level basketball players with strong interest in playing professionally in the ABA, the Italian Basketball League or other European teams. Currently there are 50 USA athletes playing professionally in Italy alone. Preston Shumpert, James Thues, Gerald Riley, Tyus Edney, Luke Recker, Charlie Bell, Vincent Yarbough, Matt Bonner, Marquis Estill and A.J. Guyton to name a few. We'll have a great skills competition as well as an All-Star game - and we really do appreciate the support of the ABA. We'll also have scouts from Russia, Poland, German, Switzerland and Finland. This is a great way to get into pro ball.
