RazorSharks to hold open tryouts June 17

(Rochester, New York) - Scott Martzloff and Kevin Peters both took a chance and tried out for the Rochester RazorSharks professional basketball team last September. Six months later they were sipping out of the ABA Championship Cup at The Blue Cross Arena as American Basketball Association champions.

Martzloff, a 7'1" center who saw key minutes under the basket for the RazorSharks and Peters, a 6'3" guard who came in and supplied long-range shooting for Rochester, took advantage of the RazorSharks Open Tryouts. On Saturday, June 17, the RazorSharks will hold their second Open Tryout session at St. John Fisher College's Varsity Gym, with Head Coach Rod Baker looking for that key player who will be invited to the RazorSharks official training camp in October - guaranteed.

"We found two key role players last year that definitely helped us during the regular season and the playoffs," said Baker, who will conduct the open tryout session. "I am looking for that 'diamond in the rough' who can contribute to another championship effort. We will invite at least one player to training camp in the Fall."

Players can register early by downloading an application on www.razorsharks.com, or show up at St. John Fisher College's Varsity Gym at 11:00 a.m. on June 17 to register, with tryouts beginning promptly at 12:00 noon. Players must be 18 years or older and out of high school. By participating in the RazorSharks open tryouts, players may be risking any NCAA eligibility.

All players will be given an official RazorSharks tryout t-shirt to keep and must wear appropriate sneakers, shorts and come ready to play. Attendees will be asked to sign a personal injury waiver and a trainer will be on site in case of a medical emergency.

Early Registration fee is $100 and is due by Friday, June 16. The registration fee for walk-in's on Saturday, June 17 is $125 and the registration fee is non-refundable. To register, download an application on www.razorsharks.com or call (585) 232-9190 and an application form will be mailed to the player.

For further information, contact Chris Iversen, Vice President of Operations for the RazorSharks at (585) 232-9190.
