Re: UFC 103: Franklin vs. Belfort
This card may not appeal to the casual fight fan, but it's was once a really deep event for the more hardcore MMA fans. Unfortunately, Swick got injured in the buildup to his Welterweight #1 contender matchup with Kampmann. It's a shame, because this really takes some of the gleam off an otherwise exciting night fights. Anyways to the matches...
Griffin vs. Franca: I usually go with the Jiu-Jistu practioner in these type of fights, but Franca has never done it for me. I think Griffin ground and pounds his way to victory, winning by decision but the fight not being close. Griffin def. Franca (Unanimous decision) Kampmann vs. Daley: This is a significant step up in competition for Daley and it will be too much. Kickboxer vs. Kickboxer, and the Dane is far more polished, my guess is a knee or headkick to drop Daley. Kampmann def. Daley (R2, KO) Koscheck vs. Trigg: This is a lose/lose situation for TUF veteran. If he wins, no big deal he beat a washed up fighter. If he loses, he lost to a 37-year old Frank Trigg. He won't move up the ladder here, but he could fall off big time. But at this point, can he go up? He stands no chance against GSP, nor Fitch (who wouldn't fight him anyways since they hail from the same camp and are good friends). That said, he should have an easy time. I admire Trigg for trying to turn his life around and make a career in MMA again, but he's overmatched here. He will forever be remembered for his classic matchup against Hughes (the 2nd one), one of the best UFC fights of all time which will be the high point of his career. But, his current stint with the UFC will be short, much like this match, which should end via TKO or Rear-naked choke early. Although I could see it being a clinic in ground and pound for 3 rounds. Koscheck def. Trigg (R1, Submission) Cro Cop vs. Dos Santos: Both really want to make their claim for a spot higher up in the HW division, which is developing some talent. I love Cro Cop, but honestly I think he's slowing down and washing up. I hope he proves me wrong, but it's not looking likely. Dos Santos has powerful hands and this will be two big dudes with lots of power just slugging it out. Needless to say, it will be exciting, and it will end with someone sprawled on the canvas. Everything points to Dos Santos winning with his powerful right uppercut in Round 1, but my subjectivity is saying go with my gut and not my head. Cro Cop puts himself back on the radar with his patented left-footed headkick. Cro Cop def. Dos Santos (R1, KO) Franklin vs. Belfort: The Phenom is back! I'm definitely pulling for him. Franklin has always been the consummate professional, and seems like a good guy, but for some reason I've never been a fan of his, despite him only losing to Machida, Hendo, and the Spider, which is pretty ridiculous when you think about it. He's very talented, but everything comes naturally to Belfort who has looked amazing since joining Xtreme Couture. Let's see if he can become the guy who destroyed Wanderlei back in the day. Belfort's hands are ridiculously quick and I see him catching Franklin and thus putting himself in prime position for a shot at Anderson Silva, in a grueling, but impressive victory. Belfort def. Franklin (R3, KO) |

Re: UFC 103: Franklin vs. Belfort
Great fight card brought to us by the UFC once again! And yes I will be watching the UFC tonight live, not the over Floyd fight.
Although it won't be aired I really want to see the Lightweight bout: Efrain Escudero vs. Cole Miller . I really like Cole Miller, and hope he wins this fight. Other than that fight I'm looking forward to the Cro Cop vs. Dos Santos fight. I believe this will be a great fight. However I got Cro Cop winning, and looking his best in the Cage yet. And for the main headliner, being an old school UFC fan. I'm pulling for Vitor to have a dramatic knock out victory over Rich. I want to see a Vitor vs Silva fight bad. However I'm sure Rich will give Vitor all he can handle, but I find Rich Franklin to be a boring fighter, and really don't want to see him headlining anymore fights. What is this Rich's like 2nd headling UFC fight in a handful of shows. Enough already! GO VITOR BELFORT!! |

I hate Koscheck, really hope Trigg knocks him into next week. Daley and Kampmann for fight of the night OR knock out of the night. Book it.

And I wouldn't say Rich is a boring fighter, though he does have a boring personality, which I don't hold against him. I can understand not wanting to see him headline fights anymore, but it's not like it's anything new. He's been headlining or at the worst co-headlining for each of his matches since winning the Middleweight belt which was like 50 cards ago. In my earlier post I mentioned casual fans being turned off by the names of this card. While that might be the case, they're usually the ones who only want to see stand-up brawls and this card will feature plenty of them. Should be a fun night. I'm planning on watching this and Mayweather vs. Marquez, but since I'm a pretty busy this these days, probably not live, and probably over the course of multiple sittings. |

Re: UFC 103: Franklin vs. Belfort
Oh and TBF that fight card is wrong. So was the fight card you produced for the UFN just gone by. I think you should start checking your sources before plastering them on here.
Bruce Buffer just announced Brilz the winner of his matchup when infact Eliot Marshal won by SD. He's gonna be in trouble for that one Story just got a victory. Dos Anjos also won earlier on.

Koscheck and Trigg are both horrible. And Koscheck beats Trigg via TKO 1st round. Last edited by 23AJ; 09-19-2009 at 09:02 PM. |

Re: UFC 103: Franklin vs. Belfort
Wow Vitor! Dude is amazing!! Glad he put away Franklin. And saved an otherwise disappointing night for me. Vitor vs Sliva should be a great fight. Vitor is fighting with such poise and confidence, the way he put Franklin to sleep was like a walk in the park.

Re: UFC 103: Franklin vs. Belfort
Vitor v Silva must happen now, especially since Silva didn't seem to eager to step up to 205 and fight Machida. Vitor did to Franklin what Silva did to Griffin. These wholesome whiteboys need to stop getting into the cage with these bad *** Brazilians
![]() Paul Daley destroyed Kampmann. Beautiful, I really couldn't be any happier. One victory in the UFC and he's now a contender, brilliant. Cro Cop has lost his fighters heart with age, time to retire for him me thinks. How Efrain managed to knock Miller out with a massive reach disadvantage the way he did is beyond me. I really like both fighters so was happy with the result. Gray Maynard next? or Mac Danzig? **** Koscheck. Tit. Great night of fighting. WAR SEMTEX!

Re: UFC 103: Franklin vs. Belfort
Oh and did EE get KO of the night?
That other prelim fights between Story and Foster was probably fight of the night aswell as submission of the night.

Re: UFC 103: Franklin vs. Belfort
vitor looked amazing. I was a fan of his during his youth, and he doesnt looked to have lost anything. The sport needs to have someone who can give silva a run for his money, and what better matchup than him and a fellow brazilian! I didnt watch the cole miller fight but im disappointed, I really enjoy watching him fight.
