Re: Nimreitz's Wisconsin Basketball Thoughts
They were talking about him on the radio the other day, saying that wisconsin and marquette are trying to pounce before the national powerhouses get a chance at him

Re: Nimreitz's Wisconsin Basketball Thoughts
Nah, it's Dominican, the Catholic D4 school. He could be from anywhere in the City. Ray Nixon and Kwamain Mitchell came out of there recently.
And he won't stay in the state. I guess it's REALLLLY early in the process as he just finished his freshman year, but I'd say he's tobacco road bound. Kevon Looney is the kid we should be focusing on in state. Then again, maybe I'm just being optimistic Quote:

Re: Nimreitz's Wisconsin Basketball Thoughts
Gearing up for Midnight Madness, or whatever stupid family event that the Wisconsin program never publicizes to students and real fans.
The "projected" starting lineup per Lunardi and the ESPN folks: PG: Josh Gasser SG: Ben Brust SF: Mike Bruesewitz PF: Ryan Evans C: Jared Berggren Personally I think Brust is going to get beat out by Marshall pretty quick as Gasser playing point is a ****ing joke. I also think Dekker will oust Bruiser before March. |

Re: Nimreitz's Wisconsin Basketball Thoughts
Bruesewitz is down for 4-6 weeks. Really don't see how he gets his job back from Dekker. Only scenario I can see is if Bo goes with the 3 guard lineup (very possible, actually) with Marshall, Gasser, and Brust.

Re: Nimreitz's Wisconsin Basketball Thoughts
Wow, I hadn't checked our non-conference schedule until today. We are going to be battle tested going into the B1G season, that's for sure.
@ #10 Florida vs. Cornell vs. #15 Creighton vs. Virginia vs. Cal @ Marquette At least the bulk of the games are in Madison, but arguably the two toughest opponents are on the road. |

Re: Nimreitz's Wisconsin Basketball Thoughts
Hammered by Florida. Poor Berggren is going to waste his senior year on a rebuilding team. Dekker is going to be really awesome and he is the kind of guy who will be able to operate beyond the confines of the swing offense, like Devin Harris and Alando Tucker. Bo has a 5 man class of 2013 all signed, which is also great. Next year is a mystery though, because we lose 3 starters: Berggren, Evans, and Bruiser. However, you could say we have 7 starters this year if you include Dekker and Gasser and Frank Kamensky who is stiff as **** and mechanical, but starting at center this year.
Anyway, next year should see a 3 guard lineup with Dekker playing some 4 which is worrisome, but only Brust graduates. So only 4 upperclassmen on the roster when you think about it, which is why we're in trouble. I guess that makes next year a rebuilding year as well. But 14/15 and especially 15/16 (Gasser will redshirt this year and also be around) should be the next great Badger teams. It sucks to have to look 3 years into the future, but I think it's a potential Final Four team with seniors Gasser, Dekker, and Marshall, plus the 5 man class will be juniors. |

Re: Nimreitz's Wisconsin Basketball Thoughts
I didn't notice, but it looks like Matt Thomas, senior SG at Onalaska HS up in the Fox Valley Area has shot up the national rankings. He's committed to Iowa State, but that's mostly because Wisconsin wasn't pursuing him very hard if I recall correctly. He also lit up the D2 State Title Game last year with 30 points. All 3 major sites have him as a 4*, and ESPN has him at #34 in the country and the #1 guy in the best Wisconsin class ever.
Wisconsin 2013: Matt Thomas - Iowa State Deonte Burton - Marquette Duane Wilson - Marquette Bronson Koenig - Wisconsin Luke Fisher - Indiana (kid better be really ****ing careful he has a good senior year, or he could get Creaned) Anyway, Thomas would have been a good get, but Bo has bucked his recruiting trend for the 2013 class and recruited 4 black guys which I like. God I had seeing a whitewash out on the floor for us. Anyway, only time will tell, but Bo went for athleticism and size, and hopefully he didn't miss on a JJ Redick in his own back yard. |

Re: Nimreitz's Wisconsin Basketball Thoughts
Yeah, the blowout of Cornell settled me down a little. It's going to be a classic Wisconsin team. Evans and Berggren are too good for this team to disappoint. And I think Sam Dekker will finish the year as one of our best player assuming Bo keeps playing him. Bo has a habit of forgetting freshmen during the conference season. Leuer hit like 8 threes against Michigan over winter break one year and then pretty much didn't play again.

Re: Nimreitz's Wisconsin Basketball Thoughts
So. In the 4 days since that last post, we beat #12 Illinois by 23 and #2 Indiana by 5 at Assembly Hall. I don't even know. Bo Ryan.
