Re: Iona-Delaware game thread...
Good Win IONA! Now go get some more (except against Siena). FWIW, I didn't even look at the scoreboard to find out who won. I just clicked on this game thread and went through the posts. It's like watching a game on speed (not that I've done that!) Really it's a cool way to see how the game progressed, with Delaware ahead and then Iona making a furious comeback. Who cares if the score was 57-52. GO Gaels!

Re: Iona-Delaware game thread...
Guy, what was that foul they called on Iona in a tie game, about 90 seconds left, right in front of the Iona bench...I was watching on the video stream, and Iona really had the press working well, and Delaware was struggling to get the ball up the court, and then they made what appeared to make a terrible call on a reach in or something...Fortunately they missed the FTs...
Iona's press was effective late and Devon Clarke was outstanding in the final 5 minutes. |

Clarke has had someone consistent residences in the Ruland and Willard doghouses because of his mental lapses on both ends of the floor. He is a very, very good player--as long as you don't use him more than 15 or so minutes per game. Ruland had to use him more than that last year based on need, and while he produced points, he gave up plenty, too. He is much more effective in short spurts. |

![]() Not full of smack at all. Just got a good feeling about our game with Loyola--assuming Springer dresses. And I was just defending your typical attack of Iona, which is hilarious given Iona's basketball history compared with Rider's. Time to try some reverse psychology here: OK Raver, you were right on Camper. And now that I said that, let's watch and see what the kid does. He was brutal last night--but stuck the big shot when he absolutely had to make it. |

Re: Iona-Delaware game thread...
Statistically, it is highly improbable - and almost impossible - for him to prove me wrong. He starts averaging 20ppg, stops turning the ball over and has healthy assists, then I would reconsider. That's the kind of player you hyped him to be - please don't deny it. Hitting 'a shot' late in the game after going 1-10 from the floor is simply proving he is a 30% shooter or so. Certainly doesn't mean a thing. At this point you should stop defending him and start looking for someone else to step up at the PG spot.

I just think the kid doesn't even use the skills he DOES have. The kid should be Kojo Mensah-like, and instead he's bombing perimeter shots. Very frustrating. |
