Kentucky starting to look like Kentucky
With 2 big road wins and 4 straight wins UK is now 5-2 & holding down the second spot in the SEC East. If UK can somehow make it down the stretch and win at least 19 or 20 games there's still hope of making it to the NCAA tourney, IMO.
All hope is not lost yet! |

Re: Kentucky starting to look like Kentucky
I don't know what it is but he has done a subpar job so far this year. He doesn't have elite talent but he has enough (especially with how weak the SEC is this year) to at least put up 20 wins and an NCAA berth with Kentucky. BG deserves a pass the first 2-3 years though because none of the kids (besides PP who is the best player on the team) are his recruits right now (the ones who are making an impact). I think if UK gives him around 4-5 years he will transform UK like he did Texas A&M.

He does have enough talent to be performing much better than they are though...

Re: Kentucky starting to look like Kentucky
Tubby was lazy. He can't and wouldn't develop players. Gillispie can and will develop players. The improvements with Bradley, Crawford, and Stevenson are nothing short of incredible. Once Gillispie gets his recruits in place UK will be a power once again. It won't take 4-5 years either. It starts next year and it will only get better. I can guarantee that UK will hang banner #8 in 4 years or less.

Re: Kentucky starting to look like Kentucky
Kentucky now stands at 16-10 overall and 10-3 in the conference. They can afford one loss. I still say they get in. I'm sure Jay Bilas would disagree with me.

Re: Kentucky starting to look like Kentucky
Bilas and Vitale are hardcore ACC fans.. They've knocked the SEC all year..
I say if we can pick up atleast 2 of the next 3 we're in ...

Re: Kentucky starting to look like Kentucky
Hurts big time to have Patterson out. Just when Kentucky was getting going...

Re: Kentucky starting to look like Kentucky
Do you not follow recruiting? They have one of the elite players in the '08 class in PG/SG DeAndre Liggins, SF Darius Miller who is a top 100 player, and might add SG Scotty Hopson who is a McDonalds All-American, and rumors are that Bud Mackey 4* PG wil be walking on due to legal troubles. Mackey was considered the best player in Kentucky until his legal troubles pushed him out of state. Their problem has been and will be recruiting big guys. They are in on 2009 5*'s Derrick Favors, and John Wall. They will be fine, that championship prediction is quite a big one to make.

I agree he does have the talent to have his team playing better than it has. But I have been encouraged by a few things. First off the only player that he actually had a part in recruiting (Patrick Patterson) was one of the, if not the best Frosh in the SEC. Joe Crawford has looked like an All-American at times this year instead of looking rather complacent with being average like he was with Tubby. He still has some work to do but I think some of the kids he is recruiting will provide that help. |

Re: Kentucky starting to look like Kentucky
Scottie Hopson has two SEC schools on his list and neither are Kentucky (Tennessee and Miss St.). They are in the running for Brad Tinsley but then again if the lists are believable so is nearly everybody (21 programs listed)
When it comes down to it I expect all major programs to have a Top 150 at least and also make a serious run at any Top 150 that is from the home state. Kentucky has a top 30 and another top 50 that is from Kentucky. So I guess they are pulling in a better recruiting class than I gave them credit for however is it enough in the SEC? |

Re: Kentucky starting to look like Kentucky
UK will do well in the SEC touney and get like a #10 seed in the NCAAs this year. Their league record is quite strong. If they play with passion like they did on Sunday against the voles then its a lock.
