As soon as I crossed the Railroad tracks into West Hartford, everything changed for the better...
Damn, that is a rough walk I went to 9th grade just up Bloomfield Ave from UHa, and my first job after college was west of those train tracks... not a walk to make, and no, you were still in Hartford. West Hartford does not begin until you pass the campus entrance on Bloomfield Ave, and pass Prospect St. on Albany Ave. I drove Albany Ave a lot in that era in Hartford, and yes, the Weaver HS (whose district you walked) at one time in the 80s had a single white student in an 800 student high school. You did pass a tasty Jamaican bakery, my favorite.

Discussing the floor...

Quote:
The floor will accommodate a court of NCAA/pro-size, said Dyer, “with high school and NCAA markings on it.”

The college/pro-court is 94 feet long by 50 feet wide, while a full-size high school court is 84-by-50 feet.

While it will mainly handle high school play and potentially some college games, the court also will include small marks to tape down a pro 3-point line, said Dyer.
What does that mean? The court is going to be 84 feet or 94? 84 feet only would be very, very short sighted, unless UMaine is supposed to bring its floor down when they play there?

Sounds like it will be full size with appropriate paint markings for either high school or college.

But the college court is 10' longer, so wouldn't the endlines be off? Or am I being dumb and they just have to add like an extra row of panels to the middle?

You got it! And no your not being dumb, I'm pretty sure that's how they do it. Looks like a nice place to catch a game though. Maybe someday UVM will get something done.

Re: OT: New Bangor Arena Update

I wonder if there will be space for some floor student seating behind the basket on the "open" U end. I'm not overly sold on the horseshoe design for aesthetic/noise purposes.

Great recent video tour of the new Cross Insurance Center.......

http://www.wcsh6.com/news/article/22...urance-Center-

This is going to be a FABULOUS small market facility.........the best in the Northeast for something this size IMO. I don't remember Burlington having anything like this either............

Wow! That is really nice...and damn, a room big enough to seat 1100 for a sit-down dinner? That is rather large indeed. I cannot wait for this to be done & see the final product...seems as though they have thought of everything.

Would make a great host facility for the AE tourney!.....especially if they build a rumored hotel across the street where the BDN building is currently located.

Too cold and snowy and you can't expect AE fans to travel that far!
