Re: Outbound Transfers Catch-All Thread

Word is Ron Giplaye, Bilal Dixon and Gerard Coleman are transferring from PC. Let's hope BU Assistant Carmen Maciariello (hired from Providence) can work some magic and get one of these guys. Obviously, Coleman is a bit of a reach for BU, but the others would be impact big men in the AE.

That's a MASSIVE list already....wow.

I had a whole post written up but I'll try and keep it short:

UVM potential targets (?):

*Hector Harold- leaving Pepperdine. Played at NMH, we have the NMH pipeline- plus Burlington is the complete opposite of Malibu.

*Max Hooper- Leaving Harvard

Probably no chance but doesn't hurt to reach out:

*Evan Smotrycz
*Carson Desrosiers

One other thing, Allan Chaney is leaving Virginia Tech? Didn't he just transfer there from Florida?

Was Maciariello at PC long enough to pose in the team photo? He was only there for the summer: brought in from Fairfield by Ed Cooley, the coach that all these guys are transferring from.

Sorry, hope that doesn't sound line sniping. Just that, the PC connection is tenuous.

Re: Outbound Transfers Catch-All Thread

RJ Evans from Holy Cross is a good SG, and I thought about him for a second for UVM because I know Lonergan showed some interest when he was coming out of HS in CT. That being said, he's going to be eligible immediately and the last thing we need next season is another SG. If he was going to sit out this season, then I'd say yes.

Reading this, and being a CT kid sounds like his dream is to play for UConn and he knows there will be a mass exodus this season...also of note, it says Albany and Quinnipiac are in the mix:

http://s2.excoboard.com/Crossports/33741/2335144/2

RJ EVANS HAS Q AND ALBANY IN THE MIX (CAN HARTFORD BE FAR BEHIND)

Former Norwich Free Academy standout R.J. Evans, who attends Holy Cross, is looking to finish his college basketball career and continue his education at another school.

Evans would like to pursue a master's degree in business after graduating in May. He has one year of eligibility remaining due to the fact that he missed the majority of the 2010-11 season with a sports hernia.

Evans, a 6-foot-3 guard, visited UConn on Monday, meeting with coach Jim Calhoun and assistant Glen Miller.

"They said it would be good opportunity," Evans said today. "They think what I can bring to the table is a tough, hard-nosed guard and that I can bring some leadership as an older guy.

"We'll talk after the Final Four and see what happens."

Evans averaged 11.5 points last season for the Crusaders. He had a team-high 15 points and four rebounds against UConn in a 77-40 loss on Dec. 18 in Hartford.

Here's what Evans said about his homecoming experience that day:

"It was a great time," said Evans who is from Salem. "I'll remember this for a long, long time. I'll never forget it. I saw people from my town when I was in middle school who haven't seen me play in eight years -- my old AAU coaches, my family, my mom and dad.

"It was a good experience."

Evans hopes to make a decision by mid-April. He's also considering Virginia, Wake Forest, Quinnipiac and Albany. His next home will have to be a good academic match.

UConn's potential post-season bad is not a major hurdle, according to Evans. He would be eligible to play next season.

Right now, his first choice is UConn.

"It's hard for it not to be (my first choice) because I'm a hometown kid and it would be a great opportunity in general and hard to pass up...," Evans said. "It would be pretty cool if I ended up at UConn."

I would love to see Coleman come to UNH and Ron Giplaye seems like a guy we already have in Jeron Trotman even close with the haircut. No matter what I would love to see every Aeast team get some good transfers that can help their team and our conference!

Ed Cooley's denying the report and said Giplaye and Coleman are staying. If they don't I wouldn't be surprised to see one of them end up at UMass.

Re: Outbound Transfers Catch-All Thread

Mike Aaman, 6'8" PF from NJ, has been released from his NLI by Wagner. He wants to stay within 2 1/2 hours of home, and play for a D1 program. He can be an impact PF on the mid-major level, he's not a hi-major player, but can really help the right program.

He picked Wagner over St. Francis (Pa.), Monmouth University, St. Peterís College and UNH, but his stock is a bit higher now.

According to Alex Kline, Monmouth, Rhode Island, Iona & La Salle are now reaching out.

Gerard Coleman would do work in this conference. He'd score 20+ ppg.

Agreed. Better be a good reason, and the only place I'd allow them to transfer to would be another Ivy or Stanford

I don't think Hooper played very much, if at all, last season for Harvard though. Still.....

Re: Outbound Transfers Catch-All Thread

Thus far the transfer list from the America East has had little negative impact. No disrespect to Ryan or Matt but losing two big guys that didn't show the toughness for Division 1 basketball is not going to hurt our conference. If somehow we can hold onto the talent that many predicted might leave (McGlynn, Edwards, etc.) combined with the crop of new players and the loss of a somewhat underwhelming class of seniors I think fans of the AE have something to be hopeful for in the coming year. I expect our conference to move up in the rankings even if it's to the mid-twenties.

Re: Outbound Transfers Catch-All Thread

i think the seniors were a little more than somewhat underwhelming. that was a very bad class for the AE. especially when you consider three of the better players glass, partin, and hazel were transfers.
