Re: Outbound Transfers Catch-All Thread

Update on RJ Evans....apparently the two schools that have offered him a roster spot are UConn and Albany. Also says USC, Northeastern, Iona, and URI have expressed interest.

Sounds like he's leaning UConn despite tournament(s) ban.

Why would Albany offer a 1 year SG when they have Suero/Aronhalt already for one more season?

Well ..1). Anyone who knows the AE knows that Aronhalt is playing on one questionable knee...yes he's getting surgery but who knows his status. When he is back who knows what UA will get out of him...and 2) All Albany guards not named Suero, Black and Aronhalt pretty much suck (Guerrier is more of a 3), so getting someone who is actually more talented than Ralph Watts would help. 3)If it isn't abundantly clear, Albany's window to win the league is next year, before they head back in the shitter for 3 more seasons, so loading up for a run is something they really would like to do before time runs out. 4) always nice to have an insurance plan

This move for UA makes much more sense than you wasting our time wondering about bringing back Jordan "The Cheater" Clarke.

Re: Outbound Transfers Catch-All Thread

Looks like Pepperdine transfer and former Northfield Mount Hermon star Hector Harold is visiting BU and Vermont. He'd be a good fit for this level I think. 6'7" sf/sg with a good shot and pretty good athleticism. Didn't do much at Pepperdine but was considered a good recruit for them.

Very highly regarded coming out of prep school. He is from Los Angeles, so I'm surprised he's looking to come back east. Would do very well at this level.

Called it.

Nice- Harold would be a great addition. He had interest and maybe even offers from Stanford and Vanderbilt coming out of NMH but chose Pepperdine because he's from LA.

Not sure why he has played sparingly on a not so great Pepperdine team- but he'd make an impact for us. Here's his highlights from NMH:

Jacob Iati is coming back for Albany as well- he played great for them when given an opportunity- appears you missed this. Pretty obvious that what Albany needs to get them over the top isn't another guard that scores- and why would RJ Evans want to leave Holy Cross and fight for minutes and shots with not 1 but 2 other SGs that both start and put up a bunch of shots?

Even if Clarke to UVM is impossible- still makes more sense then Evans to either UVM or Albany. Adding Clarke to UVM's front court next season would be simply unfair for the rest of the league. Of course, it's not happening.

Hector Harold is NMH class of 2010, along with UVM's Clancy Rugg and Josh Elbaum. (Matt Glass was NMH '07, Colin McIntosh was '05.)

In the AE tournament Iati made some big shots, but he was horrible defensively. So bad it was difficult to watch. I was sitting behind the UA bench. I politely suggested to Will that he should get Iati out of the game because he was single handedly losing the game.

Really- He was terrific in other games for Albany down the stretch, of course that's relative to other Albany defenders. He did an outstanding job on Four Mcglynn in the game at Albany last season; held him scoreless and made him really struggle.

Iati played well against us at Albany. McGlynn was hurt that game and struggled moving. Iati hit some great shots at the end of the game and almost hit the three that would have tied the game in the closing secs.

"Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder"

Every player has strengths and weaknesses.

Iati has some weaknesses but one of them isnot his work ethic - successful or not Iati gives 100% all the time and I don't think you can ask for more then that!!!!

And 1 game samples are 1 game samples are 1 game samples.

If someone only caught a couple of the games Voelkel and Four had, your impression would be that neither player would be very good, or even warrant a D1 scholarship- as both players had a couple brutal games last season.

But then you watch them play most nights- and they were easily two of the better players in the conference.

I thought Iati down the stretch was one of the biggest bright spots for Albany overall, on both sides of the ball.

Clancy Rugg ‏ @ClancyRugg
Hyped to see @HectorHarold this weekend!

Re: Outbound Transfers Catch-All Thread

RJ Evans to UConn..not really surprised, think it's the only place he wanted to go all along.

http://www.courant.com/sports/uconn-...,6546743.story

Also looks like unfortunately for UConn their back-up center that gave up his scholarship for Drummond is transferring. He had pretty good grades as well- something UConn needs.
