That said, the waiver question is very interesting, in that Trey Zeigler has already receive one for a similar situation (he is eligible immediately at Pitt after his Dad was fired at, I believe, Central Michigan)....this bears some watching, in that Baron is a flat-out shooter, and a very good one! (IF he went to UVM, what would that do to the chemistry on the team, considering they have no doubt been pumping up Rusin as the starter? Baron is a better player, but would he be happy splitting minutes? He's strictly a SG. IF he gets a waiver, would he want to play down a level? The plot thickens.......)
I can't imagine Rusin would have an issue with it considering in April he expected to be in a back court with Bald and McGlynn next season....and then a few weeks ago thought he'd be backing up Four......and we may be adding another guard as well (Kindred)

No idea what Baron is looking for, but he MUST make his 3rd school count! Not a lot of time left, which leads me to believe that he's been working on something already...

Re: Outbound Transfers Catch-All Thread

Jordan Laguerre reportedly quit the team at UMass and didn't ask for his release, whatever that means. I'm sure he winds up somewhere.

Laguerre is from Manchester (NH) and prepped at New Hampton. I saw him play for New Hampton, and he is extremely athletic and was a beast. He was academically ineligible last year at UMass and spent the year sitting out, so it's highly doubtful he shows up on an America East team if he couldn't get eligible at ZooMass.

Here's his highlights. Reminds me of Victor Page from Georgetown in the 90's, for those that remember Page, another lefty scorer that loved to dunk:

Goodman reported Baron is going to visit Purdue and is also considering Canisius (obviously)

His grades are awful and did not get any better! He would never play for any America East team.

Wow. There is some chatter that Baron is transferring to Providence. That will take New England's best college basketball rivalry to a new level.

That would be a big addition for Providence. They need it, because Kris Dunn supposedly has a shoulder injury and might miss the season, and Gerard Coleman has transferred to Gonzaga.

I know he visited Purdue over the weekend.

Although that assumes he is granted a hardship waiver and plays right away. I can't decide if playing for Providence helps or hurts his case. On the one hand, it looks pretty spiteful to play for a rival. On the other, he could argue he wants to stay "at home" and play ball.

It's 100% he gets the waiver.

NCAA gave waiver to Trey Zeigler to play at Pitt for the exact same reason- no way they would then deny Barron when precedence was just set (and actually has been set).

True, but Baron has already transferred once. It's possible that could change the dynamic

Markus Kennedy is visiting BU next.

Some pretty stiff competition. I believe he is friends with Robinson, Watson, Irving and our Philly crew. Make it happen.

Re: Outbound Transfers Catch-All Thread

Per Goodman, Billy Baron chose to play for his dad at Canisius. Not much of a surprise there.

Big addition for Canisius, big step down for Baron from UVA to URI to Canisius.

Per Kline, Kennedy isn't taking his planned visit to BU today- supposedly will take his visits in August. Not sure what this means for BU.
