That is just a really solid-looking conference. I wonder if they'll end up taking in KU and KSU |

Omaha World-Herald reporting that Nebraska is now a Big Ten member:
http://www.omaha.com/article/2010061...to-the-big-ten This should force the hand of Texas and their peeps (A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma & Oklahoma State) |

Re: Conference Expansion: Explosion Coming?
The Texas Board of Regents meets next Tuesday when it is expected that an announcement of their move to the PAC-10 (along with Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State) will take place:
http://texas.rivals.com/ Texas A&M is still on the fence and considering the SEC. If the Aggies don't go to the PAC-10 then Kansas or Utah come into play as PAC-10 member #16. This spells trouble for the East Coast conferences (ACC/Big East/A-10/CAA) as it appears that a major realignment is inevitable. |

Re: Conference Expansion: Explosion Coming?
Notre Dame will swallow their pride and realize that Indiana's football team makes more money through the Big Ten network than they do with their contract with NBC. Plus, its not like Notre Dame's ratings are through the roof. They may not even get their contract renewed.

Re: Conference Expansion: Explosion Coming?
Looking more and more like Texas A&M is bound for the SEC.
And now the Mountain West seems ready to make a play for Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5279018 I think that this has a good shot at happening. Those 3 schools look like they are going to be shut out from the other 4 major league expansions. So a future Mountain West may look like this: Missouri Kansas Kansas State TCU New Mexico Wyoming Boise State Colorado State Air Force *Utah BYU UNLV *Fresno State San Diego State *If Utah doesn't go the the PAC-10 then they will most likely look at one more member to get to 14 which I predict will be Fresno State. That looks like one nice conference! The Mountain West may have to send out thank-you letters to the PAC-10 and Big Ten. |

Re: Conference Expansion: Explosion Coming?
But wouldn't Missouri and Texas A&M going to the SEC be just as likely a scenario? The SEC could then easily raid and obtain two more for 16 (Florida State, Miami, Georgia Tech, Louisville, etc.). What if OU and OSU opted for the SEC as well along with Mizzou and TAMU? Not too far from Norman and Stillwater to Fayetteville and Columbia!!
Got to think that Utah becomes the 16th member of the PAC-n conference if Texas, OU, OSU and Tech sign on. Seems a little crazy for TCU to block Baylor's entrance into their conference. I mean they were once SW Conference mates, a Big XII member would provide more "cache" than someone coming from a lower conference, it would help by providing a reasonably local rival, etc. Seems short sighted just like Utah/Utah State, New Mexico/NM State, Iowa/Iowa State being in different conferences. I mean it works well for Michigan, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Mississippi, etc. |

I've been traveling and generally out of touch all week. Need to spend some time tonight figuring out the permutations of what may/may not happen. It seems like Utah would go to the Pac-10 if Texas A&M doesn't. It is hard to believe that the Big Ten stays at 12 if the SEC and Pac-10 go to sixteen. |

OU and OSU are going to the PAC-10. TCU wants to protect its "status" as the only Texas school in the Mountain West.......probably a good idea for them as they have become a powerhouse in football without the help (or attention grabbing) of other Texas programs. It's a new world out there.....history and loyalty don't mean squat! |
