Re: UVM New Arena Thread

idk...I would like to keep the corporate name out of it but I understand the money aspect of naming a facility. I've always liked the idea of honoring one of if not the first star of our program ... The Kevin Roberson Arena

Re: UVM New Arena Thread

Both John LeClair and Martin St. Louis have made over combined $100mm from just their NHL salaries. Not to put them on the spot or anything, but if it's going to be a multi-sport arena, which I believe is the plan, I'm totally cool with having a hockey players name on it

I like this idea. My only concern is that bus drivers, not knowing the correct pronunciation of his name, might mistakenly take their team to Missouri if the place is called St. Louis Arena.

Maybe I'm biased, but the campus at UVM really is a thing of beauty. Always something going on and you never know what your going to get. One of the nicest campuses I've experienced.

At UVM it could be sunny and 75 one day and snowing and 20 degrees the next. Something about Burlington though......hard to explain but it really is a beautiful city.

As far as SBU goes, I've been there a few times and I have to admit I didn't love it. At the same time though I didn't think it was "ugly" just not for me.

I still stand by my pledge, if I win the lottery I am going to contribute a large amount towards this arena.

Re: UVM New Arena Thread

The mayor is receptive to the idea and associate AD said the university would consider moving it off campus but wouldn't foot the entire bill if it wasn't on UVM property. The mayor asked what the shared use would be from the cities side of the equation. Minor league basketball and hockey has been thrown around but neither one seemed too enthusiastic about those possibilities.

I follow the Field of Dreams mantra "If you build it, they will come." I believe this is especially true if you built downtown.

Is this in any way connected to UVM? :-) If not maybe someone can reach out and ask for a lump some cash donation.

I worked there in the early 2000s. IIR, all of the founders were from Clarkson.

Looks great, but we're going to have a tough time filling it with senior citizens for sell-outs.

The President of the company went to CVU high school in Hinesburg and is a friend of my son. Not sure where he did his undergraduate work.

There will be lots of people who work or worked there that will have a substantially higher tax bracket.

http://www.buzzfeed.com/kristinchiri...ing-containers

Vermont is one of the greenest states in the country. Why not construct our new arena out of recycled shipping containers. They even already have wood floors that could be used as a basketball floor. It would cost a fraction of the proposed 60 Million, would take a fraction of the time, and could be much larger than previously planned.

Yes, I am serious.
