Not to give anything away, since a hypothetical 1st team would only have 5 guys on it, but some of my all-time favorite America East walk-ons for a variety of reasons (Some would go on to earn scholarships, but they all began their careers as walk-ons):

Dan Daccarett, BU
Sean Regan, Hartford
Chris Brown, New Hampshire
Mahamoud Jabbi, Binghamton
Solomon Bamiro, Stony Brook
Marqus Cox, Stony Brook
Anthony Anderson, New Hampshire
Dan Rickard, Stony Brook
Joe Campbell, Maine
Jack Phelan, Vermont
Jesse Dunn, Northeastern
Mark Michalek, BU
Jon Wallingford, Maine
Brian Barnes, Albany

Current AE Walk-On's (or former Walk-ons) I'm a big fan of:
Jimmy Gray, Bing
Javon Ralling, Bing
Quinton Jones, UMBC
Ryan Cook, UMBC
Clancy Rugg, UVM

and of course

MIKE "YOU CAN'T STOP HIM YOU CAN ONLY HOPE TO CONTAIN HIM" HORN!!!!!!!! Bing

Re: OBW Catch-All Thread

Black has played very well all year and has stepped up big time over the past two games without Suero. Losing to Vermont by 3 and beating rider by 9. If you told me suero wouldnt be playing in games and arnoholt would be playing on 1 leg i would have told you Albany would be dead in the water. I think most people agree. so now i ask...Black or Irving?

Re: OBW Catch-All Thread

To help keep the focus of the AE awards thread on the actual AE awards and not our versions, I'm linking our awards on this thread. Talk about them where you will.

All-Defensive team is up. Four of the picks shouldn't be controversial on the board. And there's a Vermont player there too, but not the one you might assume...

(And no, we're not throwing our hands up in the air and nominating Marqus Blakely again. Although we may have wanted to.)

Re: OBW Catch-All Thread

You guys got the right Catamount- not sure if you were going to acknowledge Voelkel or not. I also agree on omitting Bald.

Bald is still a great defender, and he has a tough assignment- typically has to cover the opposing team's SG, which in many cases is a more athletic player and tough scorer. That said, no question Bald's offensive struggles this season have affected his defensive intensity- it's pretty apparent. He's still a great defender, better then most, but far away from the DPOY like he was last season. I mean, it's never one player's fault but Robert Mansell torched him for jumpers the other night, and Bald didn't make a FG. That would have never happened last season. His D this season has been...down relative to how great it was last year.

I wouldn't take Edwards though. Not much D played by anyone on Maine, and the only one that does is Allison IMO.

Nice article, not exactly spot on though... Hard to completely dismiss Suero's effort on the defensive end (as the author does) as simply a jovial kid after watching him day in and day out, seeing Brown sub him out going offense-defense for most of the game, or watching him walk back down the court after committing a turnover while the rest of the Danes sprint back in transition.

I've only seen him play twice this year, neither time in person, so I can't really comment other than to say that he's clearly the most offensively talented player in the league, and also this: When the conference is looked at as one of the worst (this season) in the country, any publicity about one of the players is a good thing! National articles are rarely as informed as those written by the folks that see players game in and game out. To me, any national pub for the AE is a positive, especially leading up to this weekend's tournament. Hopefully, for Suero's sake (and Albany), he critically looks at himself on film and sees that defense is 90% effort and "want to"......I'm rooting for him....and say what you will, his numbers are impressive. They don't tell the whole story (numbers never do), but impressive they are.
