Re: OT: UAlbany - NANO
i though it was the opposite. I though TU hated Ualbany? You stated that a while ago... Why is this btw? do they have differents interests or what?
Do you think this lack of disclosure has anything to do with competition from other SUNYs? this question might not make much sense since there no competition in Nanotech across SUNYs... i just want to know more about the projects secrecy... its an public university project, doesnt make sense how they can maintain this a secret... Re: OT: UAlbany - NANO
also, i have a question: from looking at google maps, i see that Albany doesn't much space to grow outward with i-87 and i-90 limiting it. Where is the future growth directed at. Is on the southern part of campus?

Re: OT: UAlbany - NANO
Honestly, not sure...Herriman has a ton of space that way. They are also looking to purchase a few acres near the section of campus where the athletics are now in order to build other facilities there. Speculation is either parking or move the baseball field there.
On the docket, total renovation as well as expansion of the campus center, business school is going up as we speak as are dorms. Football stadium is about to start construction (fingers crossed). Not bad for a teachers college/concrete jungle.

and why would Ualbany be a Teachers college? Stony Brook was one like 40 years ago but both schools are far from that today |

Re: OT: UAlbany - NANO
Stony Brook doesn't have a suburban private school across town whose fans don't want to admit that Albany is a worthy Division I university, so to them we're still the State College for Teachers that we were 1914-1962. The 'concrete campus' is from the Academic Podium that connects all the buildings built in the late 60s, you know, daring not to use brick and ivy like all the other colleges around here.

Re: OT: UAlbany - NANO
The concrete jungle/teachers college is a pejorative reference often invoked by LCC (Loundonville Community College) fans/supporters. We, UA supporters realize we are far from that today even though the school many decades ago was a teachers college.

Re: OT: UAlbany - NANO
And when you say LCC you really mean Siena College. I'm sorry, dont understand the metaphors very well since i bearly know anything about upstate school. I actually felt like a dumb ass searching for loudonville community college, then realizing only Siena is located there... lol

Re: OT: UAlbany - NANO
President Philip (UA president) and Dr. Lee McElroy (AD) both were on at halftime of the UA/Maine game tonight.
Philip said that they are waiting for the last few approvals to come through and McElroy stated they are ready to build the football stadium. Philip stated that they hope to start moving dirt in December. Seemed like a done deal!
