Re: 2013 America East Recruiting Thread
Alex gets most of his information from the kids themselves or various twitter accounts. Recruiting information is never going to be 100% accurate unless it comes straight from the coachs' mouths.
For example, Stephon Mosely (a recent 2012 commitment to St. Francis PA) was reported by Kline to have 7-10 offers last fall from various D1 schools (including some A-East schools). Reality was probably that he had interest but zero offers. Many kids will lie about their offers to make themselves look good. In turn, assistant coaches will lie to kids about the head coach's intention to offer as well. There are lots of games in the D1 recruiting world. |

Re: 2013 America East Recruiting Thread
As far as Vermont is concerned, it's pretty easy to figure out what's real and not real. Like when he tweeted last fall when we had like 5-6 visitors it was easy to figure out because the assistant coaches tweeted stuff about having visitors, then you went to the recruits twitter and they talked about their visit, and then fans at the game said they saw a bunch of recruits at the game, you know it's legit.
But opposite of that when Kline tweets stuff like "Aaron Morgan is reportedly down to Fairfield and Vermont" and Morgan chooses UMBC when both Fairfield and Vermont had scholarships to give you know he didn't hold offers from Fairfield and Vermont and was trying to pump himself up.

He tweeted that some kid was on a visit to Boston University. I replied back "no he's not, BU is playing on TV at Villanova." He replied "I was told he was at BU today on a visit." I said "not an official, BU is on TV right now, turn your set on." He's totally an information aggregator. AAU coaches love him because he promotes their kids, and their programs - for free. His accuracy is about 40%. He has a kid visiting Northeastern a couple of years ago, and like the poster above, our coaches said basically the same thing - "Who's that?" I've tweeted stuff that I know is wrong from a bogus tweeter account to see if he'll pick it up, and he did. Other recruiting tweeters see him as "accurate" and they re-tweet it. Kline's also not good at providing original attribution. He'll get called on it and will say "I had it too." I give the kid an A for ambition, a C/C+ for execution. He's good at scouring the internet for stuff, so that makes him a teenager. ![]() Also agree on the monetization. I got a password for the site from someone who paid for it and the stuff on there is garbage.

Re: 2013 America East Recruiting Thread
Vermont seems relatively quiet on recruiting front. Longergan always seemed to get at least one kid early in the summer period, Ryan McKeaney committed on July 9th, Four committed on July 14. Under Becker, Kilpatrick committed I think September 14, earliest Becker recruit, not counting transfer Candon Rusin.
Wonder if we'll sign anyone in July/August....seems like coaching staff is keeping a low pro...would like to see us land someone like we did Four- I had no idea we were recruiting him when he announced.

When we were hit with departures, I hoped this would be the case. Seems to make a lot of sense in terms of all the prep kids that reclassified 2013.

Re: 2013 America East Recruiting Thread
I was just looking over the roster on UVMs website and found it funny that they only have 7 players listed. The coaching staff had 8 listed.
Interested to know more about this new addition........
