Re: 2013 America East Recruiting Thread
Per Recruit Recon UVM has offered 5'9" PG Kasim Chandler from PA. Also reportedly has offers from Fairfield, Siena, Q-Pac, Bing, and St. Francis (PA)

Re: 2013 America East Recruiting Thread
Chandler is a Jersey kid; I think he's doing a PG year over in PA. Small, but quick, good penetrator/passer. Best in an up-tempo offensive system. Probably not the "typical" UVM point guard, but he can play. Extra year should help him add strength and work on consistency with the jumper.

Re: 2013 America East Recruiting Thread
Per NMH Basketball twitter, SG Sam Donahue is visiting Vermont. Terrific 3pt shooter- not super athletic but solid, fundamental guard. Reminds me of Sandro a little bit.
Would love to get both Donahue brothers if it's a package deal too!. His younger brother Jackson is class of 2014 and can really handle the ball and is more of a PG/scoring PG and can shoot it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxHYGW3nwac http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHUrjfvBKkk Jackson Donahue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQ-Xhut_cOw

Re: 2013 America East Recruiting Thread
Papale had a lot more offers at this point and a lot more high-level offers too. From what I've seen Papale looks to be a little quicker and better off the dribble. Think Donahue has said he's heard from Marist, Quinnipiac, and Assumption in an interview online. And now Vermont. Dead-eye 3pt shooters are Dead eye 3pt shooters though. Donahue plays in much tougher prep school class and is on a better prep team.
Jackson Donahue on the other hand...is a combo guard that may have more upside than both....because he can handle the ball far better than both players.

Re: 2013 America East Recruiting Thread
Per NMH Twitter, Sam Donahue on a visit to Boston College today. No idea if any relation to BC coach Steve Donahue or not. Steve is from Philly originally, Sam from CT.

Re: 2013 America East Recruiting Thread
Catching up on my twitter, noticed this went out yesterday: http://twitter.com/SportingVermont/s...60779109826560
Anders Broman a guard from Minnesota. The link from Sporting Vermont says he scored 71 points in a single game...in which his team lost. |

Re: 2013 America East Recruiting Thread
Per his HS coach, Chris Braley is using one of his official visits on James Madison. I believe someone mentioned he was only looking Ivy- JMU is pretty far the other way from an Ivy, so who knows what schools are in play.

We probably don't get him on an official if Four was still in the mix.

Re: 2013 America East Recruiting Thread
Broman is a great scorer. Only reasons why I do not see the Big Ten all over him is because of his size- looks to be between a 6'1''-6'3'' scoring so would have trouble on defensive end and does not appear to be a PG either despite being a nifty passer- pure SG. I do not know MN basketball well but judging by his competition in his videos- and I think I read his HS only had 60 kids- it must be a lower conference. The teams he played against look like HS teams you might see in the Metro League in Vermont. Not a knock on anything either way, just saying it doesn't look like the NEPSAC obviously or Jersey/DC/Philly/NY HS leagues.
Anyways, he played with a very good AAU team and shined this past summer. I think Tyus Jones was the PG on his team, and he's one of the Top players for 2014 and has offers from all the big schools- Duke, UNC, etc. Would be a great addition. When I was at UVM there were a lot of kids from Minnesota attending. Many of them were athletes as well, because of course the mens and women's hockey teams. Vermont is probably a good transition from Minnesota. Seems like he enjoyed his visit. I believe this is the first official visit we've had. 71pt game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIPvDEymemo 11-12 Highlights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuMtsICpXXg AAU/Nike EYBL (probably best highlights b/c playing against good comp) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8A9NxlaBTRU

Re: 2013 America East Recruiting Thread
Broman's real good. His AAU team is Howard Pulley - that was Matt Janning's AAU team. Rene and the guys with Howard Pulley do a great job with their kids (I got to meet the Pulley guys a few times when Matt was at NU). One of the better, more reputable AAU programs around. I think we're in on him as well, given that we graduate our top two guards.
