Watching the highlight reel I also noticed that he "pushes" his shot from about forehead level. Joey Accoui shot like this in his freshman year and got stuffed. He changed his shot.

Watching Kilpatrick's similar highlight reel from his junior year and then his senior reel gives a good idea of how much physical development can occur in that year. He went from beanpole to buff.

An issue for someone 5'8" certainly- not someone that's 6'6"

Yeah, I know he had interest at some point from all those schools.

I imagine there wasn't any mutual interest from Yale after they got a commitment from Anthony Dallier at NMH- given they play the same position.

I would take a guess that if you saw footage of Brian Voekel or Tommy Brenton as a junior in high school they would have been tagged as "not that athletic", so do not judge a book by it's youtube cover...hopefully they all work out, that would be ideal, but to already label Taggert as a four year back-up and KIlpatrick/Stiedl as"shoe-ins" is a little premature at best. Listen, we are both on the same team I just happen to think think, and i could be wrong ,that Harrison will be a strong player! I like to think that especially in the last 4 or 5 years that the staff knows what they are doing......and there is a reason they got him to re-classify and commit! P.S Elbaum will just get better and better...the guy can play D.. run an offense and post up mis-matches...and look him up on youtube...nasty 360 dunk!
Agree with the main points you've made, which is that it's really silly to bucket these 3 kids into playing time positions, etc because they have never played a D1 game. Only two comments:

-having seen what I have of Kilpatrick & Taggart- Kilpatrick seems to have considerably more athleticism right now.

- Voelkel was pretty athletic looking in HS. Seem to recall a few dunks of his.

A lot of times with college kids they get what they put into it. There is so much room for improvement that any kid could win the starting job. Harrison Taggart though was only offered after they said "IF we offer you a scholly will you try to reclassify?" They could of offered him and just said we would like you to reclassify. I'm not sure they offer him if he doesnt reclassify. That might not have to do with him being good enough as much as them wanting more out of the only 2 schollies they had for 2013. Taggart also didnt have many other offers if any at that point. All these things point to UVM being higher on Steidl and Kilpatrick. I trust UVM's judgement on who they think is better right now. I'm not knocking Harrison at all. He will have a year on Steidl. He could be a starter some day. He could be 1 injury away from starting. Just because there are better players starting over you does not make you a bad player. Elbaum is a perfect example.

I also think that kilpatrick is a level above Steidl and Taggart in athleticism. He was put on the same boat as O'day and Rusin as our most atheletic players right now. Kilpatrick has some hops from what i've heard.

I think the main point is that it's extremely premature to say who is going to be a four year back-up, who is where in the depth chart considering none of these kids have played a game.

The best thing about all three of Kilpatrick/Steidl/Taggart is that in a conference like AE they can play 3 different positions. It's great to have the versatility and the size options.

+1

I thought Elbaum played real well with his minutes last season. He's a solid contributor at PG for sure.

Re: 2013 America East Recruiting Thread

Anders Broman is on an official visit to South Dakota State. Looks like they are trying to find their next Nate Wolters.

2 more official visits left for Broman- I wonder where to and if they are set up.

Gonzaga DC PG Tavon Blackmon highlight video.

Watched the whole thing, kid is what you want in a PG on offense and defense. Can shoot too:

He has a visit set up for Vermont this month- not sure when.

I'm not sure all around he's much better... Defensively it certainly appears that way but I'm fairly sure Tavon lost a lot of initial interest due to the lack of a jump shot....

Blackmon reminds me of the train station in Milan. That's where the world's slickest pickpockets are to be found, I understand.

Re: 2013 America East Recruiting Thread

Per Recruit Scoop, BU lands their first Patriot League recruit- 6'4" SG Cedric Hankerson from Miami. Had offers from Minnesota, Virginia Tech, and Oklahoma State, among others.

Impressive.

Re: 2013 America East Recruiting Thread

I can't say for sure who's better Dukes or Blackmon but I can say without any doubt Blackmon is better suited for the system we have in place.

I don't know if Becker is an all the way Coach Lonergan disciple, but it seems like a shoot first point guard isn't what it seems the coaching staff tends to look for- going back to when Trimboli/Lonergan were butting heads. Dukes is a terrific talent- but definitely a shoot-first PG.
