Re: 2013 America East Recruiting Thread
Wow! 2 in one day! Fantastic! I'm very happy to see this. Now with 2 scholarships left we need some bigs. Impressed that both guys had a blast on their recruiting visit and verbal the next day!
A short article about Edwards... http://www.newenglandrecruitingrepor...-Hampshire.php Last edited by UNHFan; 10-01-2012 at 12:29 AM. |

But none have played a minute in Gold and Green yet. I like the balance between front court and back court, though. Hopefully this group gels and we have a repeat of last season. |

Harold had offers from Vanderbilt and Colorado coming out of NMH. Someone like Taggart had very few reported offers but at this stage in the game,we have no idea what any of these kids are going to do for UVM when they hit the court. My point is simply Becker has been getting some high-level recruits, and some recruits that are right at our level as well. I'm totally content taking kids that we think are a right fit that have offers from Patriot League, Ivy, America East, and maybe a couple CAA. That's the right for us academically and athletically and probably also who Vermont is going to sign more often than not.

IMO losing BU really hurts. Sure, their attendance sucked, but they were one of the better teams in the league year in and year out. We are now running the risk of Stony Brook bolting - I can't see how they stick around for too long. Unless something improves from within (better recruiting/coaching from top-to-bottom in the league) and/or from without (bringing in a new school or two that can compete for the conference championship every year), I see the AE as being in the 'play-in' game every year. Not good for recruiting overall. |

b) true, but if there's a strong chance of getting to, and a decent chance of winning, the PIG, does that compensate for being in a bottom-drawer conference? |

Re: 2013 America East Recruiting Thread
Not trying to hijack the thread here, but am I the only one that see's the PIG as an opportunity? Think about it, as a 15-16 you're one and done. You get blown out (most likely) and with the bounce around coverage you usually only get about 15 minutes in the national spotlight. The PIG ls year was pretty sweet. Sure it was Lamar, but it made for some great exposure for the schools and the conference. I like being the "only game in town" too. If we could get to a 13-14 seed it's a totally different story.

I think losing in a PIG would be very disappointing though. I would much prefer a 15 seed to PIG. 15 seeds *can* win. 13-14 even better. I think UVM was probably 3 games away from a 13-14 seed last season though- beating South Florida, a game we were totally home jobbed, beating Iona, and not losing to Binghamton would have probably yielded a 13-14 seed. South Florida and Iona were both in NCAA Tournament, and had we had those wins on our resume it would have been great- nice RPI bump as well, in spite of how bad AE was last season.

Re: 2013 America East Recruiting Thread
Getting to the NCAA tournament draws recruits. It's what every player wants, and it's a wonderful experience. Play-in game or not, it's the goal.
