Re: OT: Marqus Blakely 1/6 He owns it!
Blakely had 23pts, 8 boards, 8 assists, and 4 steals in a win against his old team Iowa Energy last night.
Hopefully Marqus can get a 10-Day contract in the not too distant future.

I do find it a little disheartening that they've apparently had the largest number of callups for the D League this season in its history, and Marqus still has yet to get one.

Saw Joe Trapani play for the Red Claws last night. He was easily the worst player on the floor, every time he went in there would be calls to take him out from the crowd.

Yeah, that makes sense. I think playing solid defense is largely about effort and commitment. I can't believe he's not athletic enough to play better defensively than he has been.

Re: OT: Marqus Blakely 1/6 He owns it!
In addition to defense, I'd also add focus/concentration seemed to be an issue.
Marqus had a lot of turnovers, silly fouls, missed FTs which at time just looked like he lacked concentration. Two full seasons into the D League can't be easy. I'm sure it wears on you- not the best quality basketball, you have to live and travel to geographically undesirable places. If you're not in Los Angeles or Austin, can't be that fun. I'm not sure how some of these guys keep coming back, considering the pay is also so low. Big Summer League this summer for Marqus, considering he didn't have ond last year. He needs to have a huge summer. Regardless, I think he may need to head somewhere other then the D League next season for a change of scenery. High- level Europe would be a good spot.

UVN Hoop Cat: I agree about Europe. The total real income of the players in the best leagues is very high. It usually includes perks like cars and apartments. It also is a slice of life you don't see here. It is a much better situation than the DL.

Re: OT: Marqus Blakely 1/6 He owns it!
I know that some NBA teams will give players repeated invites to their summer league teams without any real intention of signing, but this smells of something different... They know his game... Why bother unless something's cooking...
Anyone with more knowledge of this process have any insight? http://www.sportando.net/eng/usa/nba...-clippers.html |

I have no idea how serious they are about actually signing Marqus, but it won't surprise me to see him in their training camp this fall. That being said, the Clippers are a much better team than a few seasons ago, so competition will be tougher, and not sure what their contracts situations are like for returning players and how many spots might be available.
