Hahaha - that is truly saying something!

Not upset that they cancelled the Canada trip for this reason. But it's another reason this season sucks for the players. I'm glad there are no seniors on the team this year.

Last season would have been better than this year as I expect URI to be somewhat improved this season, but they are definitely still rebuilding and have a new coach so it should be a game we can certainly win, no doubt. Losing Billy Baron will probably hurt you guys for W/L this year.

Looking forward to the game though, I have never been to a game at URI before.

I do not expect URI to be better this upcoming season. What it may gain in better coaching and new excitement will be offset by player losses. The best four players from last year's disastrous season are gone: Outerbridge, Wilson, Holton, and Baron. That will be a lot to overcome and the schedule is not kind to an inexperienced team - Norfolk State, Brown, Loyola-MD, UVM, SMU, George Mason, Ga State, vs Ohio State, vs Seton Hall or Washington,@Rice, @Providence, @Va Tech, and @Auburn. In Year 2 several BCS transfers become eligible and the new players from this year will have more experience. It is in 2013-14 that I expect the Hurleys to begin getting results on the court. This upcoming season is just to lay the groundwork and establish a new order in Kingston.

Agree. The effort and defense will probably be improved, but they just won't be as good as last year because of talent.

What do you think the starting five will be? Powell, Malone, Milesevic (sp?)Hare, ?

Based on UNH's past history they usually don't annouce their schedule until the conference schedule is out. Therefore it should be a couple of weeks until we officially here there schedule. How about other Aeast teams that havent released theirs yet. Does your school wait until the conference schedule?

That sounds about right given URI only has about 8 scholarship players available this season. The only guys you left out are Buchanan (G), Brooks (F), and Aaman (G). The 3 transfers from Rutgers (Biruta), Texas Tech (Monnis), and Rice (Reischel) are not eligible this season. Any injuries or game foul issues will make matters even worse given there are so few bodies. It will be interesting to see what position Hare plays. He is a forward but URI has no real center. I would think he and Brooks will alternate at center given there are no other options. Big front court teams should have their way with Rhody.

As a Philly/Jersey guy, I'm following URI closely b/c there are so many players from our area on the team. Mike Aaman should make an impact right away this year, as he is a strong rebounder at both ends, and an aggressive offensive post player. He is relentless and always plays hard. Brooks has never really done a lot, he should get a chance to play a bit more this year. Next year is when you should see a difference, as Minnis is explosive, Biruta becomes your best interior big right away, and Reischel has promise, although I think he was overrated coming out of a weak conference in high school. No doubt you see Hurley's influence this year, but I agree that next year is when things start to change in the win-loss column.

Re: 2012-13 OOC Schedules

Not sure if it has been mentioned previously, but a couple of nice $$$ games for Hartford in PAC-12 Country........

Dec. 5 - @ Arizona State
Dec. 29 - @ Colorado

Also, Stony Brook has released their men's non-conference schedule: http://www.goseawolves.org/sports/m-...kbl-sched.html

Nice games for Hartford.

That Stony Brook schedule, on the other hand, is pretty unimpressive for a team expected to be anywhere from 1-3 in the conference. UConn (down) Maryland (down), and Seton Hall, and Manhattan (although not sure how they are supposed to this year in MAAC) games are fine but outside of those...I'd give that schedule a ranking of poor/quite poor.

Agreed on the Stony Brook schedule. It is tailor made for an NCAA run out of AE and to ultimately impress the CAA for that hoped for future offer of all-sport membership.

Mount Ida graduated four starters from last year. Not sure what kind of freshman class they have coming in...

(Sorry guys, it's August, and I couldn't resist)

I think it's OK, not super tough with a couple of chances to keep it close...the valleys though are pretty low though.

UMBC releases their schedule...

Boy, Randy needs to learn how to sandbag...he may get one or two wins out of that OOC.
