Re: UA: Sports Complex
Great news for Albany and the rest of us that want our teams to play against them for years to come.

Re: UA: Sports Complex
Fantastic news and being a UNH fan I will say how jealous I am and not afraid to admit it! I was really impressed when the Aeast Tournament was there a couple of years ago and UNH had a 5 point lead on Bing with 2 mins to go and then ahh nevermind! Here is hoping that if the Aeast Tournament is not in Hartford that Albany puts in a bid!

Re: UA: Sports Complex
...a watered down LaValle Stadium but still looks great.
Bosy, I read the project involves three major phases. What are those three phases about?

Re: UA: Sports Complex
Phase 1- Football Stadium; 8000 seats: 4,000 permanent; 2,000 Temp; 2,000 Berm. Built for easy expansion, i.e. local work will be ready to go to cookie cut expansion. Expandable to 24,000 seats. The structure with the press box and suites is intended to get a second level spanning 287 feet that will have the Club Suites and new suites.
Phase 2- In conjunction w/ Phase 1, a student only 80 x 40 yard recreation turf complex with lights will be built west of the Softball Stadium. Phase 3- Will start once the football stadium is fit for a game. It will be a 3,500 seat Mondo-Turf Track and Field "ONLY" stadium for our insane track teams. They will be able to hold NCAA meets at this facility. Seats will be upgraded from the ones currently serving the facility. We are told money is in the bank for full-scholly football, and fundraising is apparently going well. It is estimated that a permanent East-Side seating for football could range between 4-7 million dollars (dependent on suites). That would bring total permanent seats to 8,000, with 10,000 total (student only Berm) To bring it to 24,000, it would be a wrap-around facility more than likely. See BBVA Compass Stadium (Houston Dynamo) as an idea). Eventually, locker rooms and offices will be built in future stages. |

Re: UA: Sports Complex
That is great news Dane. and what I like the most is that the work will be done for easy expansion. Also, the fact that it can be expanded to 24k is even better.

Re: UA: Sports Complex
BBVA Compass Stadium- 22,000 seats. This is what I think a full build-out could look like (at both SBU and Albany). This stadium is 70 feet high. Our 2nd level pressbox would be about 75-80 feet high to give an idea of how tall it will be.
