You have one of two options fire Mark Macon and start over or let him pick his own staff. In between is the worse possible thing to do.
Why do you assume this was not Macon's decision?

If Anderson is doing all the in game coaching and running practices, then what were Brown and Smith responsible for? Presumably recruiting -- and that hasn't gone particularly well.

Macon has 2 years left on his contract (I had thought only one), he needs to get players if he wants to keep coaching.

Maybe I shouldn't jump to conclusions, it just seems weird that both coaches would be canned, one coach I could see if he did not pan out. Two coaches make it seem like something fishy is going on. I like Mark Macon don't get me wrong, I am usually the only one that sticks up for him. It just seems weird to me that Mark would fire both coaches. One coach fine, maybe he decided he made a bad decision, but two coaches after the first year. Did he even Vet them in the first place? Like I said it seems fishy to me, but like you said im just assuming so who knows.

Here is a article on the situation in the press and son bulletin.

Also: I forgot who said it, but they said 2 assistant coaches where leaving and 5 players wanted to leave. The first came true, so it makes it likely that the second scenario is true too, which is not good for bing.

I wonder who the former player that has applied is. My best guess is that it could be Mike Gordon.

Gordon and Jabbi were my first instincts as well. I believe Jabbi is still doing Graduate work on campus, so I'd probably think of him as the more likely.

noone says you dont know what you are talking about. some just disagree with your analysis. For the most part your insider info has been on point.

Macon actually talking to the press connects is a little odd. i am not sure macon would put up a cover that it was his decision. not saying you are wrong but macon always seems to speak his mind. if i remember correctly he said he was loyal to kevin broadus when he was labeled interim head coach and throughout that year. That probably didnt sit well with the hire ups trying to distance the program and themselves from broadus. i am actually surprised they kept him after he said that stuff. i dont think he cares what people think. I would think if it was the administrations decision he would have said no comment or something along those lines. Maybe now he is just trying to play nice with the new AD.

On the topic of a possible candidate who from the administration would do the contacting. If the administration is the one doing the hiring, what former players would they actually know. Elliot was just hired in Novemeber.

Elliot has no personal relationship with the player(s) contacted... which is why he is "reaching out" to try and build some bridges.

If I'm not mistaken, I've seen Lukusa doing work during the games throughout this past season too, so he too may be a potential candidate. Jabbi would be great imo.
