Binghamton assistant coaches
The Binghamton website now lists only head coach Mark Macon and assistant Don Anderson. Julius Smith and Ron Brown are no longer listed.
Earlier reports in this forum were that no assistant coaches were being retained. |

Re: Binghamton assistant coaches
HoopDirt had an ad on their Jobs page, I think it went up yesterday, showing that Binghamton was looking for an assistant. I guess make that 3 assistants.

Re: Binghamton assistant coaches
Weirdness continues as Smith and Brown seem to have returned to the website:

Re: Binghamton assistant coaches
I just don't understand it. Logically I would think unless you are cleaning house, you keep all of the coaches together until Macon's contract is up, and then move forward. But this decision, in my opinion, is indicative of the fact that Macon has someone in the program/university who believes in him, and is willing to exhaust all other options before firing him. Personally, I think this only extends the turmoil for 2 more years at least. By hiring two new assistant coaches, and keeping Macon, you're buying into two more terrible seasons and then what? |

Re: Binghamton assistant coaches
This is crazy. beyond crazy in my opinion. Ive always been some what of a Mark Macon fan, but can someone please tell me how firing 2 assistant coaches on his staff is going to instill confidence in Mark to do better job when they are saying basically that "you do not know what you are doing" (by firing the coaches he picked out). You have one of two options fire Mark Macon and start over or let him pick his own staff. In between is the worse possible thing to do.

Re: Binghamton assistant coaches
Has there been any further news of players leaving Bing? A rumor we heard here was that 5 players were considering leaving. I wonder if that and the coaching changes are related.
It's a mess. |

Re: Binghamton assistant coaches
Last I heard they are going to hold open try outs with the local middle school, to get some more players on the roaster. One middle school-er is 5'2 and is said to be able to score at will.
