Re: CAA membership
Can someone PM the rumors from yesterday? As a Maine alum, I'm extremely interested in how this is all going to unfold.

Re: CAA membership
I'm curious what UNH wants? I feel like they are in a position of some power, but maybe I'm overestimating. I guess they are happy with status quo because they contain their travel costs in AE, but compete at a higher level in the CAA for football.

Re: CAA membership
They are not in the position of any power other than saying, "Give me my northern football teams to ease travel or we are taking our ball with me to the...."
The..... is the problem. AEC seemingly can't get the requisite leadership for football. So...UNH makes a request, as does Maine, and it seems like Yeager is trying to fulfill it. Football is almost unique like hockey at the this level. If I were UNH (or even Albany to a degree) why pay all that money to go travel for olympic sports down South if you have a better NCAA participant opportunity (or equal to) in the AE? Financially silly. So...play all sports in the AE, contain costs...get same NCAA opportunity...and go to the Board for continued CAA football funding. Best of both worlds. |

From the news story above, "Colonial Athletic Association commissioner Tom Yeager said there is no question the league is going to add new members for the 2013-14 year, and he hopes to introduce them by the end of the summer." The AE presidents may be idiots, but it's going to be tough to keep the news from them for a whole school year |
