2012-2013 Preseason All Conference Team
Boring day - what the hell. I started this list as my pre-season team. Ive decided to list all of the candidates. Please feel free to add to it. This list is much different then it would have been six weeks ago.
Tommy Brenton - SB Dave Coley - SB Four McGlynn - UVM Brian Voelkel - UVM Mike Black - Albany Chase Plummer - UMBC DJ Irving - BU Justin Edwards - Maine Alasdair Frasier - Maine Chandler Rhoads - UNH Patrick Konan - UNH Robert Mansell - Bing Mark Nwakamma - Hartford Nate Sikma - Hartford Coley from SB is a stretch for me as are the two Hartford players. I think we may find all three of them on post season teams, but based on past performance are probably not going to make this years pre-season teams. There is probably a need for another Vermont candidate to be put up, but can you Vermone people come to a consensus of who it should be? I know, I know, Your starting five and top three reserves are all probably deserving but we need to at least pretend to share the wealth a bit. |

As far as Vermont goes, I'd probably put Apfeld up there as a candidate. Wouldn't be surprised to see Sandro up his production enough to get recognized as well.

Wow...is it me or is that a very less-than-impressive list? On the other hand, I can't think of a soul really to add. Man, I pray some of the transfers who become eligible & the freshmen can really contribute.

Re: 2012-2013 Preseason All Conference Team
isnt the real list only for first team? I think we could take a couple names off before add them if its first team.
Brenton, Black, Plummer, Edwards, voelkel is my preseason first team. |

Re: 2012-2013 Preseason All Conference Team
Write down Voelkel and Brenton now for pre-season first team (Voelkel was last year and I imagine coaches feel pretty silly voting him 3rd team end of last year since they look silly after his post-season performance last year).
The other I'd say would be Black, and then I think it gets hard. DJ Irving could be there, but I really can't say I was overwhelmed by his play in the second half of the season last year.

Re: 2012-2013 Preseason All Conference Team
Luke Apfeld will be poised for an increased role this season, even though he just about averaged around 10ppg last year and I could see that staying around the same. I would assume he's going to be named a captain and will be a leader for us next season much in the same way Glass was.
I don't know if we'll ever be able to play him more than the 17-20mpg he gets because his talent allows for more than that, but have to be careful with injury history. He seems to be getting stronger each season though.

Re: 2012-2013 Preseason All Conference Team
Salty, you crack me up. :-)
I definitely agree Luke Apfeld should get some consideration. Another dark horse pick for Vermont could be Candon Rusin. Granted this will be his first year playing after transferring, but when I saw him in the exhibition game last year, he was by far our strongest and most athletic guard. I'm really excited to see him play this year. He could be special. Although, since he has yet to play a game in the AE, no one will be picking him for pre-season anything. Keep an eye on him though, he could be an all conference type player. I guess if I had to pick one guy from VT without seeing anyone play yet this year, it probably would be Voelkel. It's hard not to appreciate all that he does. It also wouldn't surprise me at all to see Mcglynn have an even better season. He seems to be one of the hardest working guys on the team. |

Re: 2012-2013 Preseason All Conference Team
As of right now in OOC play:
1st Team: Brenton Voelkel Edwards Irving Black 2nd team: Cook Iati Myrick Nwakamma Apfeld 3rd Team: Fraser Pelcher Morris Jackson Moore All-Rookie: Warney Reed Watson Hooley Papale Freshmen usually do not make all conference teams for whatever reasons, so I left them off as well. I can't make POY and ROY picks until have more information on league standings.
