Perhaps it is possible that Miller could be walking on at UNH?

If he is walking on I'm fine with this move. If were giving him a scholarship I have my doubts.

DURHAM, N.H. – University of New Hampshire men's basketball head coach Bill Herrion and his staff announced Wednesday that Matt Miller (Arnold, Md.) will join the program and attend UNH this fall after transferring from Seton Hill University.

"We're really happy to have Matt," Herrion said. "We looked at him a few years ago out of high school, but at that time it didn't work out. Now he has two years of Division II basketball under his belt. He's bigger and stronger, and the strength of his game is that he is a terrific perimeter shooter. Sitting out a year will allow him to get physically stronger and will help his game."

Miller, a 6-foot-4-inch, 185-pound guard, started all 27 games for the Griffins last season as a sophomore. Miller was one of the top scorers in the nation last season as he ranked 22nd in the Division II ranks with 20.1 points per game, shooting 50 percent from the field. A lethal outside shooter, he was ninth in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (44.9) and 14th in 3-point field goals per game (3.11) while notching 84 total treys. Miller, who was named to the WVIAC All-Conference Second Team, also led the Griffins in steals (42), assists (91) and minutes played (35.2).

Miller has been outstanding over the past two seasons at Seton Hill, scoring over 1,000 points and racking up 158 total 3-pointers in that span. He was the WVIAC Rookie of the Year and also named to the All-Freshman Team, leading the Griffins to 21 victories over the past two years.

Miller comes from a rich basketball family, as two of his cousins are head coaches at the Division I level. Sean Miller is the head coach at Arizona while Archie Miller just completed his first season at Dayton.

The Wildcats add Miller to a recruiting class that already features Logan Mortenson (South Jordan, Utah), Frank Okeke (DeSoto, Texas) and Chris Orozco (Tenafly, N.J.).

In addition to the new signees, the Wildcats will also be bringing back junior transfer Chris Pelcher (Albany, N.Y.) who sat out the entire 2011-12 campaign due to NCAA transfer regulations.
Well then. He can't be worse than Jude Roybal, Salah Abdo, Abbi Kabba, etc.

Re: UNH pickup

Well between Chris Orozco and Miller, at least one of them should work out at the off guard position. I think we already know that Scott Morris isn't starter material.

Re: UNH pickup

I actually really like this pick up. I looked up the conference he came from and they had a couple top 25 teams and 4 bids to the ncaa tournament. I imagine you can't find much better competition outside of division 1. I don't think there is any reason to turn your nose up on a kid for playing division 2. El-Amin spent a year at a d2, transferred to a juco, came to Stony Brook then won an AE POY.

Re: UNH pickup

So this kid is Sean Miller and Archie Miller's cousin, and he still couldn't get a D1 school to give him a scholarship out of HS?

The same Sean and Archie Miller that have played at Pittsburgh, North Carolina State and have coached at Wisconsin, Miami (OH), Pittsburgh, NC State, Xavier (HC), current Arizona (HC), Western Kentucky, NC State, Arizona State, Arizona, Ohio State, and current Dayton (HC)

Neither here or nor there- just not at all what you'd expect with those connections.

At this point I'd be willing to bet he's better than Morris and has proved more in college (albeit D2) than Jones or the Freshman from NJ. Backcourt doesn't look like a strength for UNH at this point, Bronner is erratic and Rhoads shouldn't be allowed to shoot much.

I'll take him, better than the depth we've had the last couple of years. If it works, great, if not, better than Herrion Jr, McDonnell Jr, Morris, etc. UNH can't keep playing 6 or 7 guys a night.

I just hope we can get a game against one of those two schools and maybe even a home game! Come see your favorite cousin On the other hand! I think it is interesting that Herrion and staff looked at Miller in high school and for whatever reason decided either he was not ready, they had someone else they wanted etc but now he has grown to 6'4 and like someone else said this is Herrion thinking outside the box! Hopefully it works out! I for one think that Scott Morris is going to have a good year this year and surprise some people and the freshman from NJ I beieve will play more than what most freshmen usually do for Coach Herrion!

Re: UNH pickup

I can only think of one transfer Hartford has taken on from D2 in the past. His name was Anthony Bethune (New Haven). I must say arguably the best transfer we have ever had. So from my small random sample this could be a diamond in the rough.

From your lips to Gods ears Isbal! I hope this kid works out, I have faith in Herrion and company. He obviously has seen great improvment in this kid from when he recruited him in high school. THe kid sounds like a shooter which we all know UNH needs!

I've never seen anyone else mention it but after his first year at Lansing Ferris State announced signing him. If you look at the stats at njcaa, he redshirted his sophomore and played again in 06-07. He may have never enrolled at Ferris, but still had to redshirt for reneggin on his scholarship? The point is that he could have been a division 2 player.

Kenny Adeleke and his roughly 21/12/2/60 pct fg shooting on line one....
