Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
Good news and bad news this Christmas Eve for SB. Congrats to Jameel Warney - named rookie of the week for the 4th time, yawn. The bad news, Tommy Brenton got absolutely robbed by not getting AE player of the week. This may be the greatest travesty ever perpetrated in recorded human civilization. Tommy was on the verge of a triple double against a Maryland team that is sure to jump into the top 25 based on its showing against The Brook. Now we wait for One Bid WOnders to place SB at the top of their power rankings. Their anti SB bias will probably leak out and they won't post a poll this week due to the holiday season. SB goes 15-1 in conference play this year, and Albany will not be the team they lose to.

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
When the only SBU loss occurs are they going to cancel the rest of the season and just practice for the tournament? Seems kind of pointless to do all that travelling for nothing.
Is it going to be another Bingo upset, like last year? Will Mike Horn break 40? |

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
While I dont see the future perfectly clear, it will be one of three road games that SB loses. The one conference loss could be at Hartford, New Hampshire, or Maine.
On another note I would like to congratulate Albany on staying in the mid major top 25. I just noticed that Will Brown is a voting member for that poll. |

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
I think I may have given the wrong impression recently and have had no sleep for a few days fretting over the issue. Nycwolf and dougfromLI among others, I think you are under the impression that I am down on Coach Pikiell. That could not be further from the truth. Coach Pikiell is the best coach in the AE. If I have shown any frustration, it is not directed at him. I view coach as the Dean Smith or John Wooden of the AE. He is heads and shoulders above all his peers in the conference. When im being grumpy and complaining, it's with the expectation that we should consistantly be a top 50 RPI team. We are right on the verge of that, I just need to be more patient. We took 3 teams from major conferences right down to the wire in ooc play. Let's face it, if we played in the Big East or ACC this year we are probably a .500 team at the end of conference play. We had 4 losses in ooc and only one bad loss, which we avenged. We've only had 3 real home games and will continue to dominate in Pritchard. On the road we are 5-3. Outside of Big East and ACC opponents we are undefeated on the road.
While I feel strongly that we need to find a way to win the big games as they come up on our schedule, I believe that Coach Pikiell and staff are definitely part of the solution in that. One last comment before I go. Can we please get some frigging production from the 4 spot! |

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
Everyone gets down on McAlister, Pikes has his role set and he commits to it. Play hard tough defense on the other teams main big, alter/block shots, and dunk. He's not gona get the ball in the post, he's not gona score 10 pts a game, he's not gona get major rebounds. Eric knows his roles and does it well.

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
Brenton 1000 point watch.
Tommy has 97 points through 13 games giving him a total of 792 for his career. If, and this is a big if, SB plays to the AE championship game and has one post season game that leaves 20 games left in Tommy's career. To hit 1000 he would need to average 10.4 over those 20 games, and that is even if there are 20 games. Doable? My guess is the team will have to make a run to the final four to make it happen. Tommy 1000 Rebound watch Things are more optomistic on this side. Tommy (I feel I should be calling him Mr. Brenton as a matter of respect) has 940 rebounds right now. He needs 60 for 1000. If his current pace keeps up Tommy should eclipse 1000 rebounds on Jan 29 at Albany. Im guessing his avg is going to go up from where it is now once conference play starts and he could grab number 1000 a game or two earlier. |

Get in the tournament (we won't be in the play-in game so long as we win the games we should during conference season), and that's just icing on the cake. |

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
Pureifoy scared me today as usual. With AJ and Coley on the bench with 14 mins to go in the first half I was terrified realzing Pikes was going to be forced to play Tre. He came in and had 2 turnovers and a bad shot right away. I was yelling for Resner to come in. Then with the benefit of the foul situation he was able to continue to play and start hitting shots and driving to the basket making layups. I still hate how he dribbles hunched over and doesn't keep his head up,and how he doesn't drive and kick. But from what he did towards the end of the first half I was pleased. Solid win today.

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
Jameel Warney - Rookie of the Week number 5 in the books. I know there is bound to be anti-freshman bias, but two or three of those RoW awards probably should have been Player of Week awards.
Don't be the last ones to the party. Time to start the Jameel Warney Fan Club. Warney's Wolfpack! The most exciting freshman in the league since the Koppenrath era. By the time he is done Jameel will easily be looked at as the best, most dominant big man to ever don an America East uniform. Someone look into getting Wolfpack t-shirts made up. |
