Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
In Salty's defense I was formerly "I saw a seawolf once." I had issues with some friends and a password. So that means salty is not me.
No way brenton ever is called a point guard. |

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
I'd say you can call Brenton a point-forward though. I'm hoping Coley will be able to play either the one or two (Brenton's presence on the floor should help whoever's running the show). With Brenton's versatility on defense, that would give Pikiell flexibility filling out the lineup ideally getting his best five players on the floor. From the limited information I've heard about King, it sounds like he is best suited for the 3. Does anyone know or think King has the lateral quickness to guard opposing teams SF?

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
This being the last week of summer workouts before they go home before the semester starts, I think it's fair to say SBU is going to be the pre season #1 when the coaches polls come out. King, Pureifoy, and Warney are going to be major contributors this season. If Tre can stay under control, King can knock down his jumpers on a regular basis, and Warney maintains his low post dominance on both ends of the court. There's few teams that will be able to keep up with us. I just hope Pikell turns up the tempo this year and lets our guys get after it on the offensive side of the court. Can't wait to rock the red again this year, and see what they can do.

I think a player usually has to play their first college game if they want to maintain dominance.

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
Have to say though the SBU hype machine has regressed a bit- last summer it was after playing bad UK pro teams; this summer it's playing pick-up against SBU students

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
There really is no reason to crank the hype machine to warp factor 10 yet. The two favorites to win the league were decimated by defections and Boston U was kicked to the curb for the conference tourney. What was sbaping up to be a dog fight has now been decided before it even started. All Stony Brook has to do to make it to the dance for the first time in team history is to just show up every night. I don't want to come across as cocky so Im not going to say SB will go 16-0 in conference play, but I cannot begin to imagine a team in the conference that can stay with the Seawolves this year. The big worry for SB fans is where are we going to host the AE Championship game? Well, worry is too strong a word. We have all the confidence in the world that the best AD in the conference will have a plan that is brilliant.

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
Just got a report the the SB team had a pick up scrimmage against a bunch of med students in the proctology club. The proctologists have a reputation around campus for being pains in the ass on the court. They did not put up any kind of fight against the varsity however. They played best four of seven with the Seawolves winning four straight. The freshmen all showed their true greatness. Warne showed that he has a complete back to the, and fact to the basket game. He had several rim rattling dunks along with an array of soft jumpers from 10 to 30 feet. He was also able to show that he can defend all five positions. Carson Puriefoy also showed that he can defend all five positions while ably manning the 1, 2, or 3 spots on the floor. He had several rim rattling dunks and showed a deft touch hitting an array of soft jumpers from 15 to 35 feet. Ahmad Reid also showed some gritty defensive ability by guarding all five positions on the floor. Ahmad wowed the crowd with several rim rattling dunks in traffic. Reid showed that he is ready for AE competition by sinking an array of soft jumpers from 12 to 32 feet. Last but not least, we can’t forget Ryan Burnett. He showed his versatility by being able to guard all five positions on the floor for the Seawolves. Burnett also impress by going to the rim at will and throwing down thunderous rim rattling dunks, Burnett also showed the ability to knock down his jumpers. He deftly hit from 11 to 31 feet. Combined the four froshies had 160 points, 70 rebounds, 50 assists, 50 steals, and 0 turnovers.

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
Brenton is 295 points and 164 rebounds away from a 1,000/1,000 career. What are the chances he averages 10 points a game and reaches this prestigious mark?!

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
Best Playmaker: Voelkel
Best Rebounder: Voelkel Most Versatile: Voelkel Brenton is a great player- but NBA prospect? That is indeed quite sad. I remember when this conference had players chosen as Best NBA Prospect that were actually going to go play in the NBA.
