I try to catch every TV and ESPN3 only. Live near DC.
Warney's play kind of reminds me of Mike Sweetney who was drafted by Knicks in 2004? i think.. only Warney is not fat like him Last edited by iBOsbu; 02-10-2013 at 07:38 AM. |

Anyway... But still stand correct that we still need an athletic center. |

You know who hasn't had an athletic center: BU 2002 UVM 2003 UVM 2004 UVM 2005 (2005 was the Syracuse win) *Albany 2006 Albany 2007 UMBC 2008 Binghamton 2009 Vermont 2010 BU 2011 Vermont 2012 *Albany in 2006 was the only one of the past 11 America East champions to play a true center (Kirsten Zoellner) who took up space and clogged the lane, but was not one of their "go to" guys and was not athletic by any stretch of the imagination. You don't get athletic centers in this league, and you certainly don't need them to win. |

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
I would say a legit 6'10" is a legit center in d1 basketball. You don't need to be 7 feet in D1. You need to be 7 feet in the NBA. Mason Plumlee is 6'11" and there is no question he is a legit center who dominates. I don't know how many athletic legit 6'10" players have come through the AE. FFTS would have a better clue on that. I think FFTS though thinks you need to be 7 feet to be a legit center in D1.

And, like I said, none of the last 12 AE champions have had an athletic true center. Only one of them, Albany 2006 , has had a true center at all. Here's a look at each team and the man playing the 5 position, * will be used when they had a true center. 2002: BU, Ryan Butt 6'8" 260 (skilled, crafty, guts and guile, tough, skilled, great touch... far, FAR from an athlete) 2003: Vermont, Matt Sheftic 6'8" 280+ - stronger Ryan Butt without the jump shot or low-post moves. 2004: Vermont, Scotty Jones, 6'7" 220 - athletic leaper, not polished or skilled but good motor, probably closer to 6'6" 2005: Vermont, Martin Klimes, 6'8" 230, physical, played hard, not exactly polished or skilled 2006: Albany, Kirsten Zoellner, 7'1" 270, BIG, space eater. 2007: Albany, Jimmy Covington, 6'7" 260, Physical, gave you 5 fouls. 2008: UMBC, Cavell Johnson, 6'8" 220, super athletic, skilled, a true power forward with high-major skills who was playing the 5. 2009: Binghamton, Kyrie Sutton, 6'9", space eater, gave you 5 fouls. 2010: Vermont, Evan Fjeld, 6'8" 215, 4-man with some bounce, skill, and great touch. 2011: BU, Pat Hazell, 6'6" 220, long arms, some bounce, gave you some rebounds and blocks 2012: Vermont, Luke Apfeld, 6'7", bouncy, active, skilled, nice shot... only one of the past 11 America East champs started someone in the middle above 6'9"... True college centers do not come to the AE, and if they do, you're lucky if they can walk and chew gum at the same time. |

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
Can we get to hartford game. Why did SBU agree to play on sunday and not push it off? 95 was closed for one thing which increases travel time disregarding the fact that they got stuck in a ditch, limited practice time saturday if any, same day travel...you think they would have rescheduled when they were more prepared.

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
Although I dont like that we lost at Hartford, I would rather take the loss now and feel the sting now than lose at the AE tourney. This kind of tough loss can only make us more prepared come March.
