Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
ROY way too early to call at this point. You also can't just look at overall numbers as both Reed and Warney played D3's inflating their current totals. Also have to look at quality of teams they are on and factor that in as well.
That said, Reed, Warney, O'Day most impressive frosh I've seen but Papale/Watson/Aaron Morgan could get in the mix.

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
Honestly I haven't seen much of Hooley this season. But that has more to do with games I've seen. The only game I've seen Albany play thus far was Ohio State game on BTN played the night after. I've seen SBU twice on TV now- Rider & UConn- seen or been at almost all UVM games- seen BU once in person and watched GW & Rutgers games on TV.
That said, looks like he's really come on last 3 games. Getting back to Stony Brook, one of the things I really like about Warney- and also O'Day- is he's a true post player and wants to score in the paint and doesn't mess around with perimeter shots and trying to dribble like a lot of 6'7''-6'9'' kids do these days.

I may be wrong on this, only time will tell but you heard it here first, just like years ago I called Mike Black and said he would be great. I believe Hooley will be the next great UA guard...I'm not afraid to go out on that limb considering the growth I've seen out of him from game to game. I know he's just a freshmen coming off of like 9 month's of no basketball activities at all...so I'm sure he'll have his bumps and up and down games but I expect steady overall growth for him and that by the time he's an upperclassmen he'll be an All-AE type of player.

Yeah, he sounds excellent. Exactly the type of player teams need to be successful in AE. Looking forward to seeing him play more.

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
I havent paid much attention to Maryland until after the SH win last night. 9-1 with the one loss being by 3 points to Kentucky in their opener. Our strengths are the same - both teams are tops in the nation in rebounds per game. SB is 26, frigging Maryland is 3. Maryland is also tops in assists and field goal percentage. How is this team not ranked?
I'm not sure people realize how good SB is going to be. We are getting everything we expected and more from three starters. Anthony Jackson has been awesome. Controls the ball - can shoot the three and is making things happen. Jameel Warney, Jameel Warney, you cannot offer enough superlatives for this freshman. He has turned into the teams best player only 10 games into his career. He led the league in FG percent going into the Sacred Heart game last night and then went 8/9 from the field. This guy rocks!!!!!! Brenton is Brenton. Leads the leauge in assists, second in steals, pulls down boards and scores as needed. If other guys are willing to score then Brenton is positioned perfectly to do what he does. Going into the season everyone thought Dave Coley had the potential to be the team's best player. He has started slowly but that will not continue. Once he gets it going (and gets that penetrating foul line jump shot going again) The Brook is going to be a very very tough out. The question is going to be - what kind of production can we get at the other starting spot. Eric McAlister is being given every chance to own the position. He hasn't bowled me over with his attempt to take it however. In the wings are Ron Bracey - Scott King, and Anthony Mayo. Those four all have significant upside. Maybe by committee they can ably fill that spot. Off the bench im loving Marcus Rouse. He has been real good also. A real pick me up. Even our tournament savior of two years ago - Lenny Hayes has had some good moments recently. Im on a roll so may as well keep rambling - SB is number one in Scoring Offense, Scoring Defense, Scoring Margin, Free Throw Percentage, Rebounding, Blocked Shots, second in steals etc. etc. etc. This all leaves one last qustion - where? WHERE are we going to play the AE championship game after winning our semi-final at SEFCU? WHERE!?!?!?!?!?! |

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
I thought about it. But it is huge for such a game. It can be a smack in the face or a potential embarrassment if we don't sell atleast half of those seats...

If we can do it, this would be a HUGE precedent for future big time games during the regular season against teams who demand that kind of draw. Remember, Nassau Colisseum will be desperate to find a product once the Islanders leave. SBU may help fill that void. Last edited by Redwyn; 12-19-2012 at 05:01 PM. |
