2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
If the old farts from the hills of Vermont think they are the only ones who are going to make a thread dedicated to their team, they're wrong! I know not many of you all have seen our freshman play yet. But get excited, Pikiell has assembled yet another championship caliber team for us. Here are some things we can look forward to...
* The Tre and Tommy tandem. These guys are friends on and off the court. And from playing against them a few times so far this summer it feels like they have been playing together for years. Think of Pureifoy as a younger, shorter, skinner Russell Westbrook. Whose just as dynamic and quick, but gets out of control to often. * Warney will be this years #2 scorer and lead the league in blocked shots. Dave will get most of the looks, but Jameel has some great low post moves with his back to the basket and has a decent mid range jumper. But Jameel will stand out on defense first and foremost. * The 2 biggest competitions for playing time will be AJ vs Tre for the starting PG role. And Mayo vs McAlister for the 5 spot. I know I'm new to the site but I have been watching the team for years. Feel free to rip me for my confidence or opinions, I have no shame in my game lol. Looking forward to a great season and some great arguments on here as well. |

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
Have not seen him play but have heard the exact same thing. Looks real athletic and is doing his thing within the offense - letting it come to him a bit more. It wasn't a long stretch last season but I thought he did provide some spark in the Championship game and the NIT.

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
Hopefully bracey has a larger role this year for us. He played well towards the end of the year, its just his defense and play recignition I think he has to focus on. My big concern is our big man rotation. Idk if king is ready to guard any realy 4s or 5s. His shot looks great much better thn dannys, but he can't guard like DC could.
My prediction for our depth chart is: PG: AJ...Tre SG: Coley...Rouse...Lenny...Reid SF: Tommy...Bracey...King PF: Warney...King?? C: Mayo...McAlister |

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
Seawolf nation just keeps getting bigger and bigger. I heard bracey lost the lbs as well. I havent seen or heard anything about McAllister this offseason but if he doesnt get better i may shoot myself if he plays more than five minutes a game. I also heard Burnett was a "nut" on the offensive glass. Sooner or later we are going to win a championship. With BU gone we have to be considered a top 2 team with what we have coming in. I just hope the new guys game translates to the college game.

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
Last year I went on a public relations campaign for Bryan Dougher. To be quite honest, it was very successful, and I have to pat myself on the back for that. Bryan was named to the Post Season All AE team.
That gets me to my next point. SB has a phenomenal player returning this year in Tommy Brenton. Tommy was not only a First Team All AE selection last year but was also the league's Defensive Player of the Year! These accolades came after Tommy had sat a year after having major knee surgery. The season started with all kinds of Tommy is no longer Tommy talk. I'm no doctor but im guessing that being two years removed from his surgery that Tommy will be back to the Tommy we knew pre-surgery and even better. I am not going to launch my TommyB SuperPAC like I did for Bryan. Bryan never got the respect he deserved outside of SB and I believe that Tommy does. What I am going to do however is enjoy the hell out of watching him this season. I am going to appreciate every single thing he brings to the table and I will not for one second take having him on the team as our Senior leader for granted. Muhammad El-Amin was a great player but I think when this season is over we are going to say that Tommy Brenton may be the greatest Seawolf basketball player ever. |

I think he is also closing in on 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. Anyone think he can pull it off?! |

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
695 career points and 836 rebounds in 94 games. The minimum number of games he has ever had in a season is 30. Using 30 as our baseline he will need to average 10.2 ppg. The rebounds will take care of themselves. He needs 164 and has never had less than 259. 10 ppg, that is the question. 7.4 ppg career scoring average so far. I think we see the entire Tommy this year and he averages a double double. We will get 12 to 13 ppg and 10 rpg. He averaged 3 assists per game last year also. Would be neat to see that number at 3 or higher again with a couple triple doubles mixed in. I am not predicting that however - it just wouldnt surprise me. Brenton grabs offensive rebound - dishes to warney for the dunk - bingo! one assist one rebound in the books.

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
No, no - I thought I did too for a second. Multiple personality disorder maybe. I swear on everything I can swear on that Roar and me are two different people. We do not know each other, have never ever met and our pictures are pure coincedence. He has access and insight directly related to the players that I do not come close too. I am leaving to start my first aid clss so I dont have time - but I will change my profile pic later so they arent so similar. I realize I have credibility issues so if anyont else thought this they still will, but we are not the same. Have Dane run our IP's = that should take care of it lol.

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
I think the front court is the biggest X-factor for how well this team is going to do. Lots of question marks and relatively unproven players. Of all the forwards/center on the roster (excluding Brenton), only McAlister and Bracey played last year, and everyone else either red-shirted or is new.
Should be interesting to see who steps up from the group. McAlister is going to need to become a lot more consistent and better defensively if he is going to play a large role, same applies to Bracey. I remember Pikiell telling me at the start of last year that he felt King was a better 3-point shooter then Dougher and that he had a 40-inch vertical, but I still have questions of how well he will be able to guard opposing 4's. I think this could be a great year for Mayo, he showed a lot of promise his freshman year. Hopefully, he's put on a lot more weight and muscle, he's got the talent and frame to be a damn good player in this conference. Warney's got the hype, but I'm always a little cautious of putting high expectations on freshman. |

Re: 2012-2013 Seawolf Pride
Can anyone see Brenton playing the point with Coley at 2 King at 3 Warney at 4 and Mayo at 5? Brenton is such a great passer and can really create looks for everyone else. With Mayo and Warney down lay and King and Coley on the wings I'm sure Tommy can make some things happen that maybe Tre or AJ couldnt
