so first you were criticizing the league because it would lose in the PIG in the NCAA. After your were proved wrong (Vermont won it last year) you moved on to saying that the PIG doesn't count as a real NCAA win... What else? any more comments to put the league down?

Northeastern will also be very good this year, but ya CofC was picked 2nd in the SoCon this year so they'll be tough.

And Nostra I'd rather make some cash by beating Lamar in the PIG then losing to UNC on primetime.

Who'e talking about losing to Morgan State? I like the idea of beating Morgan State and then playing Duke better than just playing Duke.

Last season's game with Lamar was all positive as far as I can see. We got paid, built some confidence against a good opponent and got seen on TV by the whole state of VT. What's not to like?

The year FDU was in it (06 or 07 I think it was) they had a Thursday night regularly scheduled NEC game @ SHU, the bracket busters game at 2 PM Saturday at Central Michigan, aka no mans land Michigan, and then an NEC game Monday back in New Jersey @ Monmouth that was supposed to take place that Saturday, but had to get it pushed back 2 days so the Knights could take the absolute most worthless trip to Michigan a team has ever gone on. That's when I knew the bracketbusters suck. If your lucky to get one of the 11 or 12 TV spots then of course its good for TV exposure to potential recruits so then it doesn't matter if you fly cross country, but if you get no TV its absolutely worthless.

Yeah, a team can go 0-29 during the regular season and then win 3 games, and end up in Dayton, which is the same place UVM is going to end up come March.

Keep racking up those "NCAA Tourney wins" against the powerful MEAC, because now that BU is gone you guys should run the table for many years to come.

p.s. Check out the flight museum when u get to Dayton, I hear it's really cool.

Trivia:

Which D1 program has never played in the NCAA or NIT tourney, or has never even won a conf title?

Actually there are 2 teams that hold that distinction,(both from America Least, shocker I know) but 1 of them was established 23 yrs earlier, so they have the longest streak of futility in D1 hoops history, having started their basketball program more than a century ago.

UMKC has yet to win a conference title, or play in an NCAA or NIT game since moving to D1 in 1986...although, I don't think it's Kangaroo fans that you're looking to bait here.

C'mon man, at least go back to when the NCAA Tourney started in 1939. Bryant hasn't been either, and they just turned D1. Are you going to count them as well?

The University of Status Quo @ Excuseville (aka UMO or UMaine) has the longest streak of futility of any basketball program in D1 basketball history, having been established in 1904.

A close 2nd is UNH, having been established in 1927.

And you wonder why the America Least Conf rpi was 27th out of 31 conf last season

BU is the only team that has eliminated Vermont from an AE tourney recently and is the only team that could do it in the future.

The play-in game is what it is. If the AE has to play in it and wins, then so be it.

But I agree with Nostra that claiming it as an NCAA win in the wrong context would look ridiculous. Heck, it minimizes what Sorrentine and company accomplished years ago.

It's a PIG win in the NCAA Tournament.

I think anyone that knows anything about anything knows a PIG win is much different significance than a #13 seed over a #4 seed, obviously.

I look at the Bracketbuster as another game to help give us experience and prepare for tournament play/post-season play. If we play someone cool and get on TV, then great. I don't look at it like it's a "nuisance" or it's a "waste". Just my view on it.

This is my attitude as well
