Re: AE Gameday 12-5
The only win that would matter is Hartford.
You UVM guys should be rooting for the AE rpi to tank, so that you can garner another coveted "NCAA Tourney win" notch on your bedpost with another big PIG win vs. MEAC. Right now you're only headed for a 16 seed 1 & done. Danger Will Robinson

Re: AE Gameday 12-5
Any free video available for the UNH game?
CCSU's radio broadcast available on 1410AM Fox Sports Radio Hartford or online at I HEART RADIO BTW - Central's Kyle Vinales enters today's game as the NCAA's leading scorer. --- Also, if anyone wants to watch the UVM-CCSU women's basketball game, it's free on NEC Front Row Quote:

Pretty sure we've (the men's program) never had a second round win. As far as a first round win meaning nothing...I think UVM was more than happy to cash the check for it's first round victory, (twice). I'm pretty sure the conference is happy to continue to cash the first round victory checks for like another 4 years. Lest we forget, this is still a business and it takes money to operate. On a personal note, I was at the most recent "first round" victory. I was thrilled to get to see UVM play when 2/3 of the other programs in the country were done. It was also considered a winnable game which was even more fun. I still got to go see UVM be fodder for an elite team (UNC)which I traveled to as well. I just cannot understand why some people are so down on getting a winnable game for your first round game. I think it's a fantastic situation for ANY mid-major to be in - financially and for it's fans. I personally hope that since it's unlikely anyone from our conference is going to be a 13 or better seed, anytime soon, I'd much rather get a winnable play in game. I think this is silly. First, your team has to win the AE tournament. This is HARD. A lot of excellent teams have fallen short, as we know. So it is a thrill just to be in the position to go to the NCAA tournament. Second, perhaps being in the PIG is initially disappointing, but on reflection barely worse than being a straight 16 seed. In some ways, it's actually better, because (as others have noted) you get a winnable game, on TV, with the prospect of facing a top team in the 'second' round. Okay, you'll likely get eaten alive, but no different there from any 16-vs-1 game. And hey, you never know. If an AE team got <16 seed, then... But this is all ridiculously premature anyway. We haven't even started conference play! |

Re: AE Gameday 12-5
Having experienced the PIG last season, my views on it have changed. It's also admittedly the first time I've ever watched a PIG game in its entirety.
I'd almost prefer it to being one of the other two seeded 16 seeds. You do get a night where pretty much all focus is on you, you also get a winnable game. That being said, obviously it's much better to get seeded anywhere 15 and better because then you're talking about putting yourself into a realistic position for a major upset and make major noise. See UVM/Cuse 2005- Bucknell/Kansas, Lehigh/Duke last year. I'd be ok with the PIG if the alternative was seeded 16- but that's it. Additionally, if a team is in the PIG you need to win the $hit out of that game. Losing in the PIG would be absolutely awful- like you were never there.

I say UVM won a 2nd round game but it easier than saying they won an old first round game. I think saying they won a 2nd round game sounds better as well. 2nd round game = an old first round game. |

Re: AE Gameday 12-5
Watching the UA stream. UA was up 18-0 to start the game. Now a 4 point game with 3 minutes left. The St. Francis press has been killing UA. Black has 21 points but St. Francis is hitting 3s from all over the place with guys in their face.
