Re: UVM @ Quinnipiac 12/8 4pm
This is a nice win on the road. Q-PAC will challenge in NEC this year.
Both teams much better than they played tonight.

Re: UVM @ Quinnipiac 12/8 4pm
The defense was really pretty good. Q just isn't a very good outside shooting team on the best of days. We did what what we had to, which is pack the paint. Blue and Voelkel stepped up and they won. Now let's regain some mojo at home and play 40 minutes of good basketball against Dartmouth.

Re: UVM @ Quinnipiac 12/8 4pm
Win or lose this team is not enjoyable to watch right now. The only reason we are leaving Conn. with a victory is because the only players on Q-Pac who showed up to play were Drame, Izotam, and Young. We basically played 8 on 3 and still struggled mightily to win this game. Even when it appeared we had sealed with missed free throws and committed bonehead fouls. Not sure what to think about the current trajectory of this team but I'm sure not liking it.

Vermont 38% from the field, 5-15 from 3. Voelkel 14/10. Trey Blue 13 pts. Rusin and Rugg with 8 each. Sandro had 3 points, all from free throws. 0 points for Apfeld.

Re: UVM @ Quinnipiac 12/8 4pm
Hard fought win, and really, really ugly. It's at least good to see Voelkel try to score a little more. I don't want him shooting much, but he kept QPac honest for the most part.
I really think some of the guys are still getting used to playing with each other. Once O'Day gets better on the block and Crenca can get in the rotation a little more, UVM will be fine. |

That being said, we all know Garvey wasn't much of a reliable scorer- didn't exactly change anyone's mind tonight.

Yeah, we really need to get our $hit together regardless.
Every team in the AE is either as good or better than they were last season. Need to get this all settled before conference play arrives.

Re: UVM @ Quinnipiac 12/8 4pm
Speaking of Garvey Young the commentators talked about his transfer and claimed he wasn't getting the minutes he wanted so that's why he transferred. That's not what I remember from the media reports from Vermont when he left. IIRC he had a sick grandmother and transferred so he could be closer to home
Anyway, guys like Garvey and Four came to wrong program if they think because they are valuable players they will play 35 minutes a game. I really hope the Vermont coaches are honest with recruits that we play 10 deep and it's a rare player that will see more than 30 minutes.

I understand QPac pays for the NESN deal. However, man it's funny to hear one of the guys call the game. I think at one point the one color guy said they're one of the, if not the most successful basketball program in the northeast, then showed later in the broadcast a list of the schools with the most victories in New England over the last six years. And Quinnipiac 5th or so on that list. I guess the university is really pushing it's athletic programs, so you can't blame them. It would be great for UVM to strike a deal like that with NESN, maybe if they had the cash and a location that wasn't so far north. |

![]() Garvey transferred from everything I've gathered because he (aka his dad) thought he should be more of a featured part of the offense, should shoot more, etc. His transfer had nothing to do with minutes or starting. He was starting as a freshman. Only problem is Garvey isnt really a shooter. He's always gotten his points in transition and on slashing to the hoop or broken plays inside. He's finally getting a chance to shoot more this season though, it appears.

Re: UVM @ Quinnipiac 12/8 4pm
As difficult as that game was to watch from an execution perspective I want to congratulate Brian Voelkel for nailing two huge three pointers in the second half to keep this team from losing three straight. Those two buckets were absolutely huge and I'm proud of Brian for improving his shooting touch to be able to keep the defense a bit more honest. Q-Pac completely sagged off him and he couldn't make they pay in the first half but the second half was a different story. His free throw shooting is also much better.
