Re: UVM @ Quinnipiac 12/8 4pm
I know I was hard on him in this game earlier, but kudos to Sandro for finding ways to contribute even if he was struggling a bit. Despite missing FTs and continued uncharacteristic turnovers, he had 8 rebounds and 4 assists.
Other thought was I think a big reason we played better defensively is O'Day was able to play- got 30in tonight and some of the extra time was due to Luke's foul trouble but O'Day is out most effective interior defender by a lot.

Yep. I like when he takes it to the hoop. He either lays it in or gets fouled and goes to the line.
If teams are going to leave him that completely wide open from 3, I'm all for him taking that shot from time to time.

Re: UVM @ Quinnipiac 12/8 4pm
so true...I had predicted a VT loss, so I'm happy I was wrong but this game didn't convince me that we are not solid yet. Many question marks for this team still.

Re: UVM @ Quinnipiac 12/8 4pm
Couldn't view the game but if you read Coach Moore's comments, he wanted his team to step it up defensively and the Q did. When you have two teams playing solid D sometimes you are going to have "ugly" games. Throughout a 30+ game schedule, there are bound to be a few "ugly" wins. I am not worried at all about this Vermont team. They have more depth and experience than most teams in the AE. They rebound and play better D than most teams in the AE. These things add up to being able to win the conference title, even though the offense does not flow so smoothly at times. And that is all that matters.

Re: UVM @ Quinnipiac 12/8 4pm
Despite Rusin's tendency to turn the ball over he did shoot well yesterday. His three and long jump shot at the end of the first half helped us go into halftime with a lead. If he could just take care of the ball a bit better he will be a solid two guard for us this season. Speaking of two guards...I'm loving what Trey Blue has been doing over the past two games. He's really starting get comfortable playing significant minutes for the first time in his college career.

Re: UVM @ Quinnipiac 12/8 4pm
It certainly not all the defense when a team scores 46 but good defenses make offenses take bad shots.
I think a huge thing for UVM is limiting points off turnovers. Q had only 5 points off turnovers. Its one thing to turn it over but another thing to turn it over and have the opponent take it the other way for 2 points. That's what kills a team. |

Re: UVM @ Quinnipiac 12/8 4pm
Not sure why I didn't mention this before or notice it but with the Vermont game, Quinnipiac started a 4-game stretch where they play AE teams in a row with UVM, BU, UAlbany and Maine. Will be interesting to see how each of these team fair against QU and would be nice if they could all win against QU. Interesting how QU had OOC games vs 5 of the 9 AE teams.
