Re: AE gameday 12/9
UMBC and Maine are both shooting poorly, especially from 3. Maine is getting their chances but they either brick the open shot or get blocked.
Hartford is hanging in there, all tied at 38. |

Re: AE gameday 12/9
Hartford wins by 10. Huge game for Yolonzo Moore. I assume Nwakamma was injured as it looks like he played only 15 minutes and didn't play in the second half. It looks like Evan Cooper didn't play at all. Not sure what that is all about. Hopefully he was sick today.

Re: AE gameday 12/9
watched the whole game vs FSU.
pretty sloppy effort from maine overall and there was definitely some apathy there in the second half. i posted before the game that I didn't think Coronel would get much run in games that counted, who knows if this is proof of the contrary. He made three 3pointers and he was slightly more in check. I think he had a charge and a couple of risky passes but overall he played good defense and competed, he could be in line to replace valjarevic for back up minutes at the two. otherwise, edwards played OK, fraser played OK, allison played pretty well, but pollard killed us. tons of turnovers from what I saw, not sure what the box says but it felt like at least 7. i think that he'll be juuust fine in conference however. Cato got zero run, not sure if he was injured or what because he had taken over for Gloger but gloger got PT this game. Woodward seems like he's still tinkering with his rotation when it seemed like he had sort of settled on one just a week or two ago. this team is the definition of a work in progress (although progress under this coach is a loaded term). two other notes: woodward said that cooper, jr. was out for a while but would be missed and was doing a good job. i wholeheartedly disagree. I didn't see him do one good thing on the court in his time out there. lastly, the announcer to open the broadcast called Woodward a lifer at UMaine. conference foes rejoice, time to start binge drinking for Maine fans. |

Re: AE gameday 12/9
Just got back from the Hartford game... great team win! Nwakamma left early in the second half with a hip pointer injury that said after they game they weren't thinking it was too serious, in terms of Cooper he was out was a sprained wrist which was splinted so fingers crossed there.
I was very impressed with Hartford's resilience and maturity for such a young team. They were down 38-30 when Nwakamma went down early in the second half and unlikely guys stepped up. Sikma and Cole were off but Parker U'U filled in was the defensive glue and really came in and stabilized the team. Taylor Dyson and John Peterson hit big shots and provided valuable minutes especially defensively against a very impressive freshman in FDU's Sekou Harris, and it looks like Dyson will be a great scorer down the road and Peterson could certainly help as a veteran presence if he learns the system. Oren Faulk was solid defensively when others got into foul trouble and Jaime Schneck showed some impressive offensive moves.... just couldn't finish. Corbon Wore has really turned into a true defensive stopper, Hartford was able to really shut down FDU's offensive in the second and he was a big part of it. High Hopes for this Hawks team if they can keep growing! |

Cooper (arguably one of the top 3 players on the team this year) was out injured..... Nwakamma plays 15 minutes and is out injured.... Sikma shoots 1-3 and fouls out..... Schneck has 2 points and fouls out..... Cole shoots 1-6 from 3...... I would have guessed we would have lost by 25. Even though we are very young our bench is deeper than it has been in quite a while. Obviously Moore was outstanding but I think Taylor Dyson is going to be a very good player. That kid can score. You are right about Wroe....he is that kind of tough do whatever it takes kind of guy you like to have on the team. |
