Re: Ugly draw for big time game
Any coach that has a team with Shabazz Muhammad (even though I think he's over-hyped), Kyle Anderson, David & Travis Wear, and Larry Drew and can't get that team ranked is doing by far the worst coaching job in the country- maybe ever.
Would be surprised if Howland is still coach UCLA next year, especially after the embarrassing SI stuff.

Re: Ugly draw for big time game
UT's missed layups were ridiculous. We're talking about all alone, no one within 10 feet, and they missed. Seems fitting with how the event turned out.
Also, it's crazy how far Howland has fallen. Five years ago UCLA had the best program in the nation after three straight Final Fours. |

Pretty amazing how badly he's done- and the Pac-10 or Pac-12 whatever it is now has only gotten weaker in that time as well.

Re: Ugly draw for big time game
I've heard it said somewhere that Howland's playing style and the type of player he likes to recruit just aren't a fit at UCLA, where the boosters expect a "pretty" game played by the highest-level recruits. That just isn't Howland. If he and UCLA do part ways, someone is going to be very happy hiring him.

Howland can obviously coach, but maybe he'd fare better at a more under the radar school (?)
