Re: AE gameday 12/11
It's kinda strange that Darryl Partin has graduated but DJ Irving has taken over the Partin role. He shot the ball well statistically tonight but 17 shots seems like a lot for him as the former PG.

Re: AE gameday 12/11
Not that one. He took a hit to the chest from Smith coming across the lane. It was a pretty decent shot from Smith and if he had fallen over right off the bat I wouldn't even have questioned it. However their was like a half second delay and then he went down and it just didn't look natural. The ref actually made a good no call on the initial contact. As Smith 's momentum carried him forward he traveled. It was caused by Dieudonne being prone in the land. I'd actually like to see a foul called on the defender in those situations, just to discourage the flops.

Re: AE gameday 12/11
Not the AE, but GW/ Rutgers is on SNY right now.

Re: AE gameday 12/11
He had it going pretty good. It was a pretty entertaining mano a mano with Chambers. I didn't see many forced shots from him. Irving and Watson could both pretty much get into the lane at will against Harvard. Watson seems to get himself too deep in the paint and get's blocked a little more than you'd like to see. He needs to master Sherman Douglas floater.

I was just speaking more generally about Irving on the season- he shot close to 50% tonight, but seems strange that with other offensive options BU has he'd be taking so many shots. Siyani Chambers is a good shooter, better outside shooter than both Irving/Watson

Re: AE gameday 12/11
SBU took care of business today. i saw this game as a toss up. they always have games like this against inferior teams and let them stick around. They obviously got the Albany/SFNY game film. Mockford got nothing except a tough 3 late. Coley had a great home coming, warney was exceptional, AJ was solid. Rouse proved me right again with solid bench play. Tommy was tommy again does so much without scoring and became stony brook all time leading rebounder! he got into foul trouble so he couldnt defend aggressivly like he normally does late in the 2nd half. SFNY took advantage of it.good day from the foul line.

Re: AE gameday 12/11
A few too many turnovers from both sides but the game was enjoyable. Good win by the Brook. 6-2 in December, something to feel good about!

Nice article/photos, Sam. The team is knocking on the door, and hopefully these character-building losses will mean something later in the year. It sounds like you are tempering your relentless criticism of Dom Morris a little, based on his performance thus far. Which is good - he has been pretty solid, especially with so short a bench behind him. Of course, we all know that big men take a little longer to mature and make an impact in this league. My question, for you and others who have been all over Dom for 2 years, is why haven't we heard the same things about James Kennedy - who has done jack squat in his year-plus. He came in with just as much hype as Dom, and hasn't done nearly as much as Dom did in the same amount of time. I believe it was you who called him a Grochowalski-like undersized bulldog (paraphrasing of course) before he arrived on campus. |

When I left the BU/NU game in season opener my thoughts were "It's junior year, kid looks the same, just doesn't get it, disappears out there" but since that game and maybe the second game, he's been terrific. He's now averaging 11pts and close to 7 boards, and shooting 57%- highest of his career (because he's taking realistic shots he can make). He's pretty much stopped shooting a bunch of 3s which is good because he can't really make them and BU has a handful of players that are better 3pt shooters. He's shooting 95% from the line, about 30% above his career average. He's averaging 1.1 steals, so actually trying to play defense. In short, Morris is playing about as well as he can be playing. If he keeps it up, definitely one of if not the most improved players in the conference. As for Kennedy, I don't think I've ever said anything about him outside of he sounded like an exciting signing at the time. I'm usually only critical of players that play the lions share of the minutes, and Kennedy simply doesn't get enough time/ever play to even consider or warrant any opinion one way or the other. The few times I've seen him in a game I haven't been wowed, I guess I can say that. He seems pretty raw.
