Media scewed this up. The orginal ID of the shooter was a QU graduate, but it appears to have been his younger brother.

Yeah......the identification process of the shooter has been bizarre to say the least. Adam Lanza, the 20 year old younger brother of Ryan Lanza is now being identified as the shooter.

Re: OT: Connecticut school shooting

Notice the Conn. State Police have yet to ID anyone involved.

The media sucks! They print details from "sources" is irressponsible and it snowballs.

Quote:
In addition, police described a “secondary crime scene,” elsewhere in Newtown, where another adult was found dead. A Connecticut State Police spokesman, Lt. J. Paul Vance said that the second scene was discovered during the investigation into the school shootings. He did not give details about how the two incidents were connected.

Vance did not officially release the gunman’s identity. Law enforcement sources identified him as Adam Lanza, 20, whose mother Nancy was a kindergarten teacher at the school. Nancy Lanza was among the first killed, law enforcement sources said, and many of the young victims were her students.

Earlier on Friday, law enforcement sources had misidentified the shooter as Adam’s brother Ryan Lanza, 24. Based on reports from those sources, the Washington Post and many other news outlets also identified Ryan Lanza as the suspected shooter.

Ryan Lanza was being questioned by police on Friday afternoon, but authorities said they do not believe he was involved in the crime. It was unclear what caused the initial confusion between the brothers.

Words can't convey how horrible this really is. My condolences to all the families of the victims of this despicable act.

From CCSU President Jack Miller:

In response to the unimaginable tragedy in Newtown, the University community extends it heartfelt sympathies to the families who have been touched by this horror. We extend our sympathies in particular to the family of Sandy Hook Elementary Principal Dawn Hochsprung, a 1993 graduate of the University. As educators, we want to recognize her bravery and heroism and that of all the teachers and staff at the school.

To bring together our community in our heartbreak and to stand in solidarity with the grieving community in Newtown, the University will hold a vigil on Tuesday, December 18, at 5:00 pm, in the Student Center, Bellin Gallery.

To our students: Counselors will be available on the weekend through the Residence Life staff. Resident students are encouraged to talk to their RA or Hall Director for assistance from a counselor.

Beginning on Monday, December 17 through Friday, December 21, counseling will be available at the Counseling Center in Marcus White, Room 205, on a drop-in basis from 8:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. If you find that you need support or are wondering how to reach out to help a friend or a loved one, we also provide a list of available resources below:

Can you guys seriously not go outside the walls of the American Conference and discuss real life issues like these with the rest of the members on the site? We already have a thread for this.

It is okay if they want to discuss it from the perspective of their community... though I would also encourage the occasional foray into the rest of the site

I know it's okay but I just find it silly. I'm not going to make an OT thread about this in the Wrestling forum just so I can discuss it with the people I share an interest with.

America East Conference forums are among the most active on this site. I could care less about the other forums. I paid my lifetime membership because of the America East Forums. Not because of basketballforum.com as a whole.

I consider everyone on this specific forum to be a friend, and don't see a problem if they want to share what's on their mind with us here.

We don't need someone coming in and nit picking.

Re: OT: Connecticut school shooting

We were cajoled into migrating here from another forum. On that other forum, we did not always stay on topic. You invited a pre-existing community. You get everything that comes with it or, I assure you, you will lose our traffic en masse.

Re: OT: Connecticut school shooting

I honestly have never been outside the America East subforum in this messageboard. I don't care about the rest of basketballforum.com

My bookmark is set to http://www.basketballforum.com/america-east-conference/ so I don't even have to deal with the main page.
